5-foot-9, 138 pound outfielder had a good glove defensively but struggled a couple times to stay down and go through ball when fielding it. That will also keep Solmos’ momentum going towards his target and lead to an increase in his throwing velocity from 73 mph. He short arms the ball and hit his targets fine, but just needs to take more momentum into throws. When hitting, Solmos made good contact throughout the round sending line drives mostly the other way due to his timing. If he can get his stride to land on time and get the barrel head out front, he’ll see more solid contact and power. He could also benefit from more use out of his lower half keeping his stance more balanced and stable to prevent him from falling back in his swing and that will lead to an improvement in his 72 mph exit velocity. He’s young and showed great effort throughout the day which says a lot about his potential to develop.
