3/5/2016
6-foot-4, 225-pound left-handed pitcher who switch-hits. Strong frame with mature features. Currently shows some strength with the lower half, very strong. Imposing figure on the mound, shows good presence, works from a high-¾ arm slot, strike-thrower and controls the zone well with three pitches. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, curveball was flat at times, but when he found his release point showed a 2/8 shape at 64-66 mph. Uses his height well, creates a good downward plane, releases from way out front. At the plate he hits from both sides, with the right side being his natural. Starts open, small leg kick, picks the foot up and puts it down, uses it as a timing mechanism instead of driving forward, showed some balance but tends to fall back after his swing, finishing high. From the left side he loads his hands straight back, keeps the bat level through contact, good line-drive swing, will get better with time.

2/15/15
6-foot-3, 210-pound left-handed pitcher who hits from both sides of the plate. Strong frame with mature features. Compact with some current strength and strong lower half. On the mound, Gravel worked with some rhythm and deception to his delivery. Good timing and separated well over the rubber. Arm angle was from a high-¾ slot and filled the zone with all three of his pitches. Fastball was 73-75 mph while he showed the ability to work both sides of the plate. Curveball had 2/8 shape while he threw it for strikes at 62-64 mph. Changeup was 65-68 mph, again attacking the strike zone. Created good downward angle off the mound, can see him getting longer stride and getting more out of his body.  Offensively, switch hitter with right side being  his natural side. From the right, hits from a wide stance with his legs bent. Starts open and has small stride back online. Load with hands is straight back. Bat stays on level plane for the most part to contact, with an uphill finish. Exit velocity was 87 mph from the right-side. From the left side, wide and open stance, still work in progress. Not as fluid as from the right side. Will take work with lower half, balance, and timing. Coaches say he a hard worker so chance he gets it. Exit velocity was 76 mph. 4.75 was time from home to first, 5.41 in the 40-yard dash. Defensively, approached ball well, fielded clean and had a good transfer to mix with a big crow-hop before release point. Arm plays, was online with throws from ¾ arm slot. Outfield velocity was 76 mph.
