7/21/20

Physical: Lean and athletic 6-foot, 165-pound frame with some projectability and room to add strength as he matures. 7.35 runner in the 60-yard dash. Penn State commit.

Offensively: RHH. Balanced, even stance with a slight bend in the knees as the hands showed minor rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a controlled lift and replace stride allowing the hands to play through a slightly uphill path in the hitting zone. Plenty of repeatability in the box with feel for the timing mechanism, showcased consistent line drives to the pull-side gap during a solid round of batting practice. Could stay through the ball up the middle as well with an adjustable, athletic lower half. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 89 mph according to Trackman Baseball as well as a top batted ball distance of 333 feet to LF (a well struck shot that hit off the wall in the air). 36% line drive percentage during his round (mostly to LCF).

Defensively: The primary shortstop featured advanced footwork in the middle with ability to play low through the ball over the front side, got downhill at the fielding window creating momentum towards the target, good pace from the left side, smooth catch and throw skills, high ¾ arm-slot on throws across the diamond with quickness out of a short arm circle. Made the play on the run with relative ease and consistency on the transfers. INF - 86 mph

Registered a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 7.03 60-yard dash. Flashed athletic defensive actions with comfort in making plays on the move. Showed above average 88 mph arm strength across the diamond. The righty also sat 83-85 of the mound from a high 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm. Curveball at 67-70 showed late 11/5 break and occasional slider shape. Changeup command at 78-79 was not present on this date.

3/02/19

Registered a bat exit velocity of 79 mph and ran a 7.38 60-yard dash. Athletic defender with fluid actions made plays on the move with accurate 81 mph arm strength across the diamond. The righty sat 79-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. Showcased a balanced, repeatable delivery with a short arm swing. Curveball tends to spin at this point in its development with 10/4 rotation at 68-72. Showed feel for a changeup at 73-76 with arm-side run and sink.
