Madden continues to develop the more we see him, now standing a towering 6-foot-6, 170-pounds with still plenty of room for physical gains. At a recent indoor workout, Madden was impressive showing off electric stuff from his lean lanky frame. He uses a fast pace to his delivery, high knee lift, plenty of hip/shoulder separation, long arm-action with fast, clean arm-whip. Releases the ball from a power 3/4 slot, FB peaked 93 on the day (reports of 94) sitting 89-91, slider has next-level shape and depth sitting 77-82 mph. Madden is a South Carolina commitment with an extremely high ceiling. Look forward to seeing him this spring.

6-foot-4, 160-pound South Carolina commit. The long, lanky junior came into the event uncommitted but announced his college choice that evening. Madden has consistently been up to 90 mph during the summer and fall but sat 85-88 on this day out of a high 3/4 arm slot. With his commitment out of the way Madden will now be able to concentrate on adding strength to his projectable frame. His curveball showed tight 11/5 rotation at 72-75 while his changeup at 75-78 showed some sink at fastball arm speed.10.28.18 -

9/29/18

Top uncommitted pitcher in the PA 2020 class. Long, lanky, athletic body type and projectable 6-foot-4, 160 pound frame. Controlled side-step wind-up into a tall, compact balance point. Clean hands separation with quick down to out lower half drive. Long, loose arm action and fast arm speed throwing from a high three-quarter slot with regular effort. Struggled to command the fastball at 85-88 mph; however, showed great command and feel for his off-speed. Breaking ball sat 73-76 mph with nice tight spin and sharp 11/5 and 10/4 action.

8/09/18

Long, loose arm on 6-foot-4, 160-pound frame. Sat 87-88 out of a high 3/4 arm slot while touching 90 mph. Curveball at 73/75 lacked depth on this date. Changeup is thrown with good sell at 79-81. Repeats well and showed a feel for all three pitches. Room to add significant strength to his very projectable frame.
