8-1-2018: After pitching to a 6.48 ERA across 25.0 innings this past spring at St. Joe’s, DiValerio might be starting to figure some things out. In 38.2 IP for Upper Valley, he has a 2.56 ERA with a 34:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio and has held opponents to a .214 batting average against. 6’1/200, strong bodied with loose arm action from a slot. Gets his lower half involved with a ‘drop and drive’ style of delivery. Flashed an impressive three-pitch mix in his All-Star game appearance. Fastball sat 91-93 mph, topped at 94. Curveball was 75-77 mph and changeup sat 77-78. Kept everything around the zone and registered two strikeouts in his inning of work. Shows the size and repertoire to have a chance as a starter but could be tougher on hitters coming out of the pen. (D Jurik)
