Ariza is a stocky 5-foot-8 230 pound 1B/LHP. Ariza ran a 8.05 60. Offensively- Ariza starts with his feet shoulder width apart with an upright bat angle. Slight coil to unload at extension with an impressive 88 MPH exit velocity. Hits with a lot of pop, specifically to his pull side. Defensively- Great lateral movement and throws well for a first baseman at 75 MPH with his throws across the diamond. Low to the ground with his fielding position and soft hands. Above average defender for his age. Pitching- Sets up to right side of rubber with slight inward turn. Small side step to belt high balance point with slight coil toward second base. Arm action long and easy; slot is 3/4 with a 77 MPH fastball, sitting 75-77. Curveball ranges from 61-63 MPH. 12-6 quick and sharp break. Changeup between 69-70 MPH and has slight downward movement. Positive skill set for the 2020 grad.
