By Travis Cox

William Thomas, a 2013 prospect from Dublin Jerome is hot on the recruiting trail.

Thomas is a 6'0 and 165 pound, versatile player that can play anywhere in the field.

In fact, at a recent fall showcase William registered an infield velocity of 71 mph and a POP time of 2.05.  He is also very capable of playing both of the corner outfield positions too.

The left handed hitter is currently talking to several Division 1 schools located in the Southeast and has attended prospect events at South Carolina, Wofford and Ohio State.

He has also attended showcases at Fort Myers, Florida and Columbia, South Carolina.

During the summer, Thomas plays for Shockwave Baseball located in South Carolina.  Shockwave is the top ranked travel team in South Carolina and the 12th ranked team in the country by the Perfect Game Rankings.

Thomas believes, “Playing with the Shockwave provides me with a great opportunity to improve my baseball skills.  Travel baseball has allowed me to play with and against elite competition day in and day out.

His smooth left-handed swing and 7.0 60-yard time will only continue to get faster and stronger as his body continues to grow.

Although it is the off-season, William says that his work ethic is his biggest strength.

“I realize baseball is a long season and players are going to make mistakes, but I put in numerous hours in the offseason working to keep developing my skills to cut down mistakes during the season.”
