2013 Underclass Spotlight: Adam Cornwell, RHP/OF, Bloomington North HS



Adam Cornwell, Bloomington North High School, class of 2013, is a 5-foot-10 inch, 160 pound junior. From the OF, he shows good range and a strong arm with good carry at 82-86 mph. From a high ¾ arm slot he throws a fastball at 81-84 mph.  He shows a 10/6 breaking ball with an early break at 67-70 mph.  His changeup is 72-73 mph.  Cornwell shows the ability to throw all three pitches for a strike. At the plate he shows a downward swing plane with a good load. When getting to extension he shows the ability to drive the ball up the middle and to left. 

PBR: As you enter your junior year in high school, where are you currently in the recruiting process? 
Adam: I haven't really gotten any attention from any colleges yet. Hopefully that comes soon and I am going to work as hard as possible to catch some coaches attention.

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level? 
Adam: If I keep working hard than I feel that the sky is the limit. Hopefully Division 1 but there is nothing wrong with playing for a Division 2 or 3 school.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?
Adam: I have not really looked at any colleges yet, but if I had to choose it would be Indiana University because it is in my home town and I really like the coaching staff.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?
Adam: I feel that my speed and arm strength really need to improve if I want to be the best baseball player I can be. 

PBR: What are your personal goals for the upcoming 2012 season?
Adam: My goal for this season is to do whatever I have to do to help my team be the best team we can be.

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the upcoming 2012 season?
Adam: Just like every other teams, win the state championship.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?
Adam: I currently play for the Indiana Irish.

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or Summer)?
Adam: Helping my team win a sectional championship.

PBR: What were your stats for your 2011 HS season?  Summer Season?
Adam: I made 14 pitching appearances for our varsity team throwing 33 1/3 innings with a 2.1 ERA. Also had a .400 batting average. 

PBR: Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down?
Adam: I have not decided on a major.
