As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

Head Coach Chad Coughenour and the Eastern Hancock Royals finished last season with just two wins, but the good news is nine starters return in 2014 along with six returning arms. Two-year starter Cole Fout will lead the Royals this spring.  The 6-foot, 175 pound C/INF hit .400 last with 19 RBI in 2013. Junior Devon Wagner returns after pitching in 42 innings as a sophomore.  The 5-foot-11, 155 pound RHP finished with a 2.33 ERA in 2013 and also hit .274.  Another Junior RHP, Austin Clutinger, is expected to contribute on the mound and at the plate.  The 6-foot-3 righty hit .281 with 7 2B last season and pitched in 21 innings. Coughenour will look to two sophomores for heavy contributions in Tom Barton and Garek Ferguson. Barton is a 6-foot-3, 185 pound RHP/Corner IF that finished his freshman year with a 4.45 ERA in 28 IP. Ferguson, a 6-foot-2, 175 pound outfielder scored 12 Runs and swiped five bases last spring.  Junior David Johnson, a 1B/3B, will play a key role defensively after posting a .998 fielding %.
