KS Diamond Notes: Week 7

Andy Urban
Central Region & Prep Baseball Tournaments KC Scouting Director

Each week, KSHSAA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the PBR Kansas Player and Pitcher of the Week. While we can only pick one of each, there are always a number of other impressive performances that were in the mix for the award and deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable from week seven (April 29-May 5).

Will Burger OF / RHP / DeSoto, KS / 2024

Burger continues to be a go to arm for the Wildcats staff. This past week the Neosho commit shut down Basehor-Linwood, tossing 6 strong innings on just 85 pitches, allowing just 2 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out 9. Burger also went 4-9 with 3 RBIs at the plate for good measure.

Logan Beede RHP / 1B / McPherson, KS / 2025

Continuing to have a strong spring for the Bullpups, uncomitted junior Logan Beede tossed 5.2 innings of shutout ball against a strong Mulvane club, allowing 3 hits and striking out 10.

Macoy Moody OF / RHP / Wamego, KS / 2027

Moody did not shy away from competing against a very offensive Abilene club this past week holding the Cowboys to just 2 hits while striking out 4 over 5 innings of work on the mound.

Colton Bough 1B / LHP / Maize South, KS / 2026

The Mavericks continue to win and Colton Bough is no exception to that. The sophomore picked up the win on the mound against a ranked St. Thomas Aquinas squad going 5 innings and surrendering 6 hits.

Drew Hansen 2B / SS / Abilene, KS / 2024

Part of an explosive Cowboys offense in doubleheader sweeps of Chapman and Wamego, Hansen went 4-9 (.444) at the plate, driving in 7, scoring 5 times and posting a .722 on base percentage.

Alex Scheele / Marysville, KS / 2026

Over 6 games on the week for Marysville, the sophomore went an impressive 13 for 23 (.565) with a double, home run, and 9 RBIs - good for a OPS of 1.339 on the week.
