As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

After winning 20 games the last two years, Head Coach Erik Hisner and the Whitko Wildcats are hoping to take the next step in the program's rebuilding process by winning the school's first ever sectional championship.  Senior SS Ethan Nicodemus returns for his final season at Whitko after hitting .435 with 32 RBI as a Junior.  The 5-foot-10, 200 pound Nicodemus was also 4-3 on the mound with a 2.37 ERA in 2013.  The Wildcats will look to offensive production from sophomore Tanner Gaff.  As a freshman the 6-foot-3, 205 pound Gaff hit .395 with 5 HR and 19 RBI.  Junior Zach Snep and sophomore Hunter Sroufe will also be counted on for production offensively.  Snep, a 6-foot-1 OF/P, batted .344 with 2 HR and 23 RBI last spring, while 6-foot, 175 pound Sroufe hit .352 with 1 HR and 14 RBI as a freshman last year. Hisner will also look to two seniors for contributions this year in 2B/P Avery Robbins and catcher Seth Patrick.
