2017 Super 60: Arkansas Quick Hits

The Super 60 is an elite event, for the top players from the Prep Baseball Report Coverage area, which are in the 2017 class. CIF/RHP Paxton Wallace and RHP Austin Kelly were invited to represent Arkansas. Both players did that showing well at their respective positions.

CIF/RHP Paxton Wallace, Greenbrier High School: Wallace had a complete day. He ran a 6.95 in the 60. He produced exit velocity up to 97 mph. His batting practice round was impressed. He started with a balanced stance, using a smooth leg lift and hand load. He produced consistent loud contact with a line drive swing. During defensive evaluation he showed solid actions playing through the baseball, he used an elongated exchange to throw the baseball 91 mph across the infield. He finished his day with throwing a bullpen. He commanded the strike zone consistently with his fastball 87-89 mph up to 90 mph on his last pitch. He also commanded the strike zone with his curveball and changeup. He threw his changeup 72-76 mph and curveball 72-74 mph. Overall Wallace showed his complete versatility showing solid skills at all portions of the game.
RHP Austin Kelly, Robinson High School: Kelly worked with fast tempo in a repeated delivery to consistently throw strikes with four pitches. His fastball worked 90-92 mph with heavy sink. He complimented his fastball with a cut fastball; ( 83-84 mph) changeup ( 82-84) with arm side run, curveball 77-78 mph with 11/5 shape with late movement. Overall Kelly showed well with a fast arm with some effort to his delivery, his secondary stuff has swing and miss capabilities.
