As we begin our fourth full season of covering high school baseball in Virginia and DC, we are excited to share with you our plans for our scouting and game coverage this spring.

Season Preview

As we did last year, we have compiled previews of individual teams that have been running on the site over the last month, they will continue to run right up to opening day. We will also announce our Pre-Season All-PBR Team next week. The team will consist of an Underclass team, and then a First, Second, and Third team. Also beginning next Monday, we will preview each Region at all VHSL and VISAA Classifications as well as a WCAC preview. Each preview will give a brief summary of realignment impacts, top prospects in the Region, and teams to watch in the upcoming season.

Rankings

We will continue to rank schools in each classification as we did last year, but this year we will bring back the Power 25, a comprehensive ranking of all teams in Virginia and DC. We will update the Power 25 weekly and the classification rankings on a rotation so that they are updated at least once a month. Look for the first Power 25 on Monday, March 12, and then every Monday after that.

Game Coverage

We have expanded our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff this off-season and will be able to cover more games than we did in 2016 or 2017, with multiple scouts spread throughout the Commonwealth to allow us to cover the entire State more effectively. During each game, scouts will provide some twitter updates and scouting information as well as take scouting notes and video of players that stand out during the game.

After we cover a game, our scouts will post a brief game recap and short notes on the website, which this year will be available to all, not just PBR Plus subscribers. Within the next few days after a game, our scouts will upload video taken of prospects and complete detailed Scout Blog posts, which will be posted as PBR Plus content.

Weekly Content

Look for recurring weekly website content to include Power 25 Scoreboards, which will feature short recaps of games played by Power 25 teams and recaps of other key games. We will also open each week with our Look Ahead to highlight some of the top games throughout our coverage area each week. The weekly update of the Power 25 will also be a part of this. 

In addition to those pieces, we will have our Game Recaps and Scout Blogs running constantly as well as our usual player spotlights and prospect rankings spotlights that we run regularly to highlight players that we have seen and have caught our eye.
