2018 Snapshot - PBR South Carolina

Eddie Tisdale
Scouting Director - South Carolina

In the Spring of 2018 The Prep Baseball Report name was unfamiliar to many high school players, coaches, and parents in South Carolina. PBR broke onto the scene in South Carolina in June with amateur baseball coverage that includes stratified showcase events, tournaments, player & team rankings, and game coverage.

Here are a few highlights from our 2018 campaign...

  • PBR South Carolina hosted 5 stratified events during 2018 including two Regional ID events, a Freshman Free event, an Uncommitted SR Only event, and an Underclass Games event. The showcases featured certified stats, videos, and third party scouting reports that are trusted by college recruiters and professional scouts, evident by the 800+ coaches and scouts who subscribe to PBR services nationwide.

  • PBR branding began popping up across the state as our scouts took in over 75 games between summer & fall travel ball, American Legion, & beyond. The PBR brand was represented at the WWBA, SC Junior & SR Legion State Tournaments, local & regional travel ball tournaments, and even the Florence Darlington Tech JUCO Scout Day.

  • The first EVER players from the Palmetto State attended the PBR Future Games and represented Team Carolinas in front of a remarkable 253 college coaches from across the country. The Future Games is a unique event that brings together uncommitted players from across the nationwide PBR coverage area to the Grand Park Sports Complex in Indianapolis, Indiana. The four day event saw players complete a pro-style workout and play 3 games, all under the watchful eye of prospective coaches and scouts.

  • The initial player ranking from PBR SC dropped during the fall of 2018. The rankings included overall and positional rankings for 100 2019 & 2020 grads and 50 players for the 2021 class. You can be on the lookout for an updated and expanded ranking in early 2019!

  • The acquisition of the LakePoint complex was one of the biggest storylines of 2018. Prep Baseball Report and Rimrock Capital Management partnered to operate one of the frontline amenity rich sports complexes in the USA. The partnership aligns the first class beliefs of PBR with a facility capable of hosting first class events. Look for an expanded PBR tournament series at LakePoint in 2019 and beyond!

With all of excitement built up during 2018 there is only one way we know how to move forward, that is bigger and better!

The 2019 showcase schedule is close to release with 12 events scheduled at some of the top venues across the state and several more to come. In addition to our expanding showcase schedule, Future Games invites will be going out during the spring and early summer to some of the best uncommitted underclassmen from across the state. Yet again, we will be hosted PBR Championship Series events at Shipyard Park in June and July. HS team previews will start rolling out this week and player rankings will be updated in the next month prior to the start of the HS season.

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of The Prep Baseball Report. As just a small piece of the largest independent scouting infrastructure in the USA, we take pride in representing the great state of South Carolina. We look forward to seeing everyone at the park!
