2019 Future Games Day 2 -Team Nevada vs. Team Select

2019 PBR Future Games action resumed on Thursday with game play. Team Nevada faced Team Select in an early evening contest that was delayed due to lightning. The contest began close to 6 pm rather than the scheduled 4;30 start time. Team Nevada struck first with two runs in the top of the first with singles from ’21 Santino Panaro and ’21 Joey Adge. They scored two more in the third with the second of three hits from Adge, a walk to ’22 Tai Nguyen and single by ’22 Grayson Grinsell. Offensively, Nevada pounded out 9 hits with Adge and ’21 Callan Hermansen and Panaro leading the way. Adge had three hits while Hermansen and Panaro each had a hit as well as some loud outs.

The Nevada pitching staff made the four runs hold up as seven different arms toed the rubber for the Silver State, Though there were many bright spots, ’21 Tanner McDougal and ’21 Matthew Sigafoos showed very well.

’21 Santino Panaro, CF (Bishop Gorman)

The speedy Panaro glided around the outfield, catching numerous fly balls with confidence and ease. At the plate, He led off the game with a shot off the shortstop’s chest. Even his outs were well struck, flying out to the wall in left and a whistling ground ball to short.

’21 Joey Adge, C (Del Campo)

Sturdy, 5-foot-11, 185 caught a clean 5 innings showing solid block and recovery skills as well as on target throws to second base. At the plate, stayed on a breaking ball for a single to left field and collected two more hits with a single and double to right centerfield as well as 2 RBI. In addition, he pitched a perfect seventh with two strikeouts, sitting 84-85 with his fastball and a firm, biting 74-76 breaking ball.

’21 Callan Hermansen, OF (Green Valley)

The projectable outfielder competed at the plate, making repeated hard contact, staying on a fastball and lining it to right field for a base hit as well as lining out to centerfield. He adjusted with two strikes to put the ball in play resulting in a defensive miscue that plated two runs in the first inning.

’21 Tanner McDougal, RHP (Silverado High School)

The lanky right hander has a projectable frame with a loose 3/4 arm action that featured a fastball ranging 85-87 with arm side life. He struggled to find the feel for his breaking ball in one inning of work, but the 72 mph curveball did flash depth.

’21 Matthew Sigafoos, RHP (Damonte Ranch)

Sigafoos pitched comfortably from a high 3/4 slot with a fastball 85-86. He featured a curveball that ranged 72-73. A rhythm was hard to find in just the one inning of work, but his breaking ball kept opposing hitter off balance, flashing depth and the makings of a future out pitch.
