2021 Player Notes - Tri-Cities Prospect ID

Continuing our look at players from across the state who anxiously await the next chance to get out onto the diamond. Today we're looking at 6 prospects in the 2021 class from our fall showcase in the Tri-Cities

The group features a few Top 100 players from our updated 2021 rankings, headlined by one of the most powerful remaining uncommitted bats in the state. As well as a hard nosed JUCO commit who had an exceptional showing out at Fall PNW Championship tournament.

2021 Grads

Madden Agnor SS / RHP / Tahoma, WA / 2021

5-foot-10, 160 pounds with a lean frame. Sets up in the box in a tall, upright stance with feet square to pitcher. Hands stay relaxed near back shoulder as he gets into leg kick. Uses a short load with his upper half as stride foot gets down. Easy, balanced swing with some loft after contact. Stays balanced as barrel works thru the zone and holds his posture after contact. Defensively, fields with a deliberate pace and sound footwork. Receives ball out in front while keeping head down to the ball with a flat back. Showed a clean exchange on backhand opportunities with a quick shuffle to get more momentum behind the ball. Arm action stays bent as he gets to ¾ release point. On the mound, works from the far right side of the rubber. Back leg keeps extension at leg lift. Shoulders stay level and eyes remain on target. Breaks hands at about chest height as he starts to work down the slope. Short stride length with a cross-action landing. Keeps the same tight arm action as INF but with a high ¾ release point. 

Eric Bauman OF / 1B / Hanford , WA / 2021

Strong framed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. Starts in a narrow, slightly open stance at the plate with relaxed posture. Barrel resting flat on back shoulder to begin. Hovers on back leg as he lifts stride foot and puts a slow, controlled move into his landing. Hands stay tight and show a scap load to create separation. Keeps hands tight to body with a quick, direct swing. Showed some pull-side pop throughout BP. Moves well in the OF. Comes after the ball with an aggressive pace. Length in his lower half allows him to cover ground easily and he shows athletic strides while on the move. Uses a quick exchange and gets into side shuffle after he funnels ball in. Full arm path with high ¾ release. Pitches with a consistent tempo and a repeatable delivery. Stays aligned in the center of the rubber. Slight bend on backside as he gets into leg lift. Drop and drive move down the mound with some tilt in his shoulders. Arm catches up to body at landing and allows him to work downhill from a high ¾ release. Finishes with intent and shows hand speed out front on all of his offerings.

Kyle Henington OF / 1B / Fife , WA / 2021 / SKagit Valley commit

5-foot-10, 150 pounds with a wiry, high-waisted frame. Square lower half in the box with low, relaxed hand placement. Uses a tall set-up with a low leg lift into long forward stride. Hands pull back beyond torso as he loads. Barrel works thru the zone with a flat path into contact. Handsy type of swing with consistent bat-to-ball ability. Shows some extension after contact with a high, 2-handed finish. In the OF, shows easy movements while staying light on his feet with athletic strides. Approaches ball just outside of glove-side foot when coming thru opportunities on the ground. Kept momentum behind the ball with short, choppy steps on chances to track it down in the air. Step behind shuffle into throwing motion. Full arm path with fluid action and ¾ release.

Caden Herbst RHP / 3B / Selah , WA / 2021

Developed, durable frame at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. Sets up in a narrow stance with front foot slightly open to pitcher. Upright posture with a low forward step into landing. Hands push back into loaded position before initiating swing. Barrel gets into the zone early then comes thru on an uphill path. Braces up against front side well, creating leverage, as he gets full rotation from lower half. Defensively, size and actions profile well to the hot corner. Takes a few steps into a pre-pitch hop for his fielding approach. Keeps a wide base while funneling ball in, sinking hips to get down to the ball. Clean exchange on double play feed to 2nd. Uses a glove tap to create some rhythm with his footwork into throws. Loose arm action from ¾ release. On the mound, uses a simple, mechanically sound delivery with consistent tempo throughout. Stays tall at leg lift with slight coil in hips towards his rear shoulder. Lead elbow gets slightly above shoulder height at hand break. Short, forward stride with clean direction towards catcher. Short, bent arm action into ¾ release. Tall finish out over front side. 

Ryan Jundt RHP / OF / Richland , WA / 2021

6-foot-2, 175 pounds with a wide, sloped frame in his upper half. Pitches with a controlled, deliberate pace. Clean delivery with smooth actions. Works from the center of the rubber. Shows rhythm with hands as they sync up with his leg lift. Stays tall at balance with some flexion on his back leg. Shoulders stay level as he gets down the mound. Clean direction with front leg at lending. Continuous, circular arm path. Avoids wrapping the ball behind him. Loose finish from high ¾ release. Eyes stay on target throughout. Uses a crouched, athletic stance from the stretch with weight pre-shifted onto backside. Showed feel for keeping everything around the bottom of the zone

Kyle Parkman OF / LHP / Central Valley, WA / 2021

Athletic build with strength in his frame at 5-foot-9, 185 pounds. Balanced stance with some bend in his lower half at set-up. Front side aligns with pitcher. Hands show some rhythm/movement prior to stride. Uses a subtle, quick load to push hands back into hitting position. Hips open up early and allow him to rotate easily. Level swing with exceptional bat speed. Showed line-drive contact throughout BP. Defensively, profiles well to corner OF with his actions. Quick, athletic footwork with easy strides. Mixed up footwork between side shuffle and crow hop in his throwing motion. Arm actions stays compact into ¾ release point. Backside comes thru after an aggressive finish. Ball flight showed consistent carry.
