Zach Raico's three-run homerun in the second inning proved to be all the offense the Century Knights would need as they defeated the La Plata Warriors 4-1 in the 2A state championship.

This game featured two highly touted arms from each side with 2018 Jeremy Lapp-Barger (WVU) going for Century and La Plata going with their special sophomore Ryan Calvert. After a quiet first inning, Century would get two runners on base with two out after an error allowed the inning to extend. That would prove to be very costly for La Plata as the next hitter Raico would hit a three run homerun as the next hitter to give Century a 3-0 lead.Century would add another run in the top of the third with a two out RBI single from Jared Lamb to take a 4-0 lead.

La Plata would not respond until the bottom of the fifth inning when David Hayes would rip an RBI single to right-center to cut the lead to 4-1. Century would get out the inning with no further damage.

Lapp-Barger pitched strong for the Knights, going five strong inning keeping La Plata without a hit until the fourth inning. the fourth and fifth innings would spell some trouble for the senior righty, but he would be able to get out of both jams only giving up a run. Century would then go their other senior righty Ethan Kiple (Harford) who would shut the door for the final two frames.

Calvert threw very well for La Plata, keepng them in the game and only really getting hurt on one pitch that led to three unearned runs.

This was Century's first ever appearance to the state tournament in the schools short history, marking for their first ever State Championship in baseball.
