A Look at a Preseason Contender

Another program that looks to be very strong this spring will be the Jaguars of Madison Central. 

I got a chance to watch them in recent  scrimmage and Coach Patrick Robey should be very excited about the possibilities this season. 

The Jaguars ended the spring last year with at 7-1 with the only blemish being a loss to recent powerhouse DeSoto Central. 

Losing big time arms in Brooks Rice (LSU) and Jacob Payne (Ole Miss) would normally be a problem, but arms seem to be plentiful with seniors Braden Montgomery (Stanford commit and Super 60 participant), Austin Tommasini, Brendon Minor (East Central CC), Connor Nation, and Renard Grace looking to keep opposing hitters in check, with juniors Beau Bryans (Auburn) and Jake Cook also being counted on as well. 

Ross Highfill (Southern Miss) and Rashard Grace (Southern University) are more than capable of handling this staff behind the plate.

The Jaguars lineup has plenty of punch and should keep the score keeper busy. 

Seniors Creek Robinson (Southern Miss), Hunter Hines (Mississippi State), Highfill and Montgomery look to drive in the majority of runs, with Connor Chisolm, Gatlin Sanders, Jackson Mize, Trey Smith, Tom Lee, Nation, Bryans, and Cook helping out. 

With this much depth, a deep run in the state playoffs could be in the Jaguars future. They kick things off on February 20th at Oak Grove.
