OUTLOOK:

The Wildcats will once again be competing in 1A Area 3 with Brantley, Elba and Kinston. The area race should be hotly contested in 2020 as each team brings back at least one big tie arm. A year ago, Florala finished runner up in the area race and look for a return trip to the state playoffs in 2020. Coach Tyler Zessin’s team returns five positional starters and four guys that saw time on the mound from 2019. Two of those returners are seniors Hunter Adams and Logan West. Adams is physical 1B/3B/RHP that will be counted on a variety of ways for the upcoming season. The Wildcats will depend on him to be a leading run producer in the lineup while he plays both corner infield positions. He will also be a top end arm and log many innings on the mound. West is a speedy center fielder that can really cover gap to gap in the outfield and serves as a sparkplug offensively. He will be counted on to get on base in front of Adams and the other hitters in the Wildat lineup. Freshman C/RHP Judd Goolsby also returns to the lineup in 2020. Goolsby is a true two way talent who pitches when he is not catching. He has a solid offensive approach at the plate and can drive the ball to both gaps. Much like Adams, he will be counted on to be a major run producer this year and is a name to remember for the future. Look for Florala to be in the thick of a hotly contested 1A Area 3 race.
