All-State Games: Southeast Preview

Saturday October 31st is the first PBR Arkansas All-State Games the event is going to be hosted at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This event is going to feature over 80 of the top players in the state, the players will be representing each of the five regions of the state. Here is a look ahead at some of the top performers for Team Southeast Arkansas:

Pitcher

Blake Wynn 2016 RHP Star City HS
Wynn is a 6-foot, 160-pound right-hander with an athletic build and frame. He works from an H ¾ arm-slot with a clean arm action. He works the bottom half of the strike zone with a fastball of 84-86 mph. He throws his curveball that had 11/5 shape with depth at 68-71 mph. Overall Wynn is a good athlete that shows the ability to throw harder as he adds strength. He does a good job commanding the strike zone now. Wynn committed to Arkansas State University late this summer.

Top Defender

Austin Powell, 2016, C Star City HS
Powell is a 6-foot 180-pound catcher with a medium frame and a physical build. He is a good athlete running a 7.19 in the 60. Powell threw a 1.81-1.96 pop time during the pro-style works. He receives with soft hands and maintains proper arm angles. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, and maintains good balance throughout his swing. He attacks the baseball with an uphill bat path and fast bat speed, producing exit velocities up to 92 mph. Overall Powell is an advanced catch and throw catcher with enough offensive aptitude to handle the catching duties early on at the collegiate level. Powell committed to Arkansas State University.

Best Athlete

Casey Martin, 2017, MIF, Lonoke HS
Martin is a 5-foot-11 175-pound MIF/OF with an athletic frame and build. He is a premium athlete running a 6.65 in the 60. Defensively he is a versatile player with arm strength. He throws the ball 84 mph across the infield and 88 mph from the outfield. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance with a smooth load. He has fast bat speed with a slight uphill swing path. He has shown the ability to hit the ball to all fields and has flashed some pull power. Overall Martin has shown a 5 tool player that needs to continue to refine his game. Martin is committed to the University of Arkansas.

Best Dual Player

Garry Hill, 2016, RHP/OF, Star City HS
Hill is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound RHP/OF with an athletic frame and build. He works from a H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. His fastball is 86-88 mph with slight arm side run. He compliments his fastball with an 11/5 curveball with late break and depth. Hill repeats mechanic and has average balance. He would benefit from getting more extension toward home plate. Overall he is a good athlete that projects to get better with his arm action. Defensively as a position player his athleticism takes over making him a solid defender. His arm strength plays well from the outfield. Offensively he attacks the ball with fast bat speed producing exit velocities up to 91 mph. The swing has the tendency to get long, however he has feel for the barrel and has hit consistently at the high school level. Right now Hill projects to be a dual player.

Best Hitter

Caleb Carr, 2016, OF, White Hall HS
Carr is a 6-foot, 185-pound OF with a medium frame and a physical build. He runs a 6.90 in the 60. Defensively he plays through the ball and shows solid instincts. He throws the ball 82 mph from the OF with carry. Offensively he attacks the baseball with fast bat speed creating exit velocities up to 88 mph. He has a compact swing. He has a slight arm bar, however he has shown the ability to keep his hands inside the baseball and drive the ball to all fields. Overall Carr is a solid OF that will compete at the next level. He is committed to playing to the University of Central Arkansas

Sleeper

Cole Muckleroy, 2016  MIF/OF, Star City HS
Muckleroy is a 5-foot-11 160-pound, athlete with an athletic frame and build. During the workout he showed the ability to play both infield and outfield. He threw the ball 83 mph from the outfield and 76 mph across the infield. His arm was accurate from both position. On the infield he plays through the ball with a fluid footwork and a quick exchange. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed producing exit velocity up to 84 mph. He has a short line drive swing and maintains balance through extension. Overall, Muckleroy is a versatile player with solid athleticism, he needs to add strength if he is going to compete at the collegiate level right away. Muckleroy is an uncommitted 2016 that is very versatile.

Up and Comers

Will Richardson, 2018, CIF/RHP, Woodlawn HSLow ¾ 81-84 mph with arm-side run and a solid feel for his secondary pitches.

Kaleb Hill, 2018, LHP, Watson Chapel HS: High ¾ 79-82 clean arm action with solid breaking ball, very projectable frame at 6-foot-3 175-pounds.
