Paul Panaccione
Arizona Scouting Director

PBR Arizona has been hosting events, scouting games, and gathering info from coaches as we approached this day so we could guarantee you our best effort while covering the high school season. Each week, the P25 rankings will be updated, along with: team notes, and Game of the Week coverage.

If you have any info worth sharing, please keep PBR Arizona Staff updated with video/comments. The more information we can collect from different sources the better. We are always open to your opinions and appreciate any feedback.

Playoff Picture

Chaparral travels to Mountain Ridge in their final regular season matchup for a chance to have sole possession of the 6A Desert Valley Region. The Firebirds did not get off to the start that they would've hoped for at the beginning of this season, but they've stayed the course while playing one of the toughest schedules in the state and have earned their spot back in our top 10. Day in and day out this team has a solid team on the opposite end of them, and their losses have come in tough fashion. This is a team that has been through it, and with skilled veterans and Andrew Carroll back on the mound, this is a state title contending team.

Red Mountain was in a similar spot as Chaparral early this season, taking some losses they would not typically take, and dealing with injuries to key players. But this group has plugged away, and gotten back on track at the time of the year when that is most necessary. They've cruised through their region, and with one more win at home vs Mesa, Red Mountain will be in sole possession of the 6A East Valley Region.

Hamilton remains the clear favorite state-wide in the highest division. They have been tested of late, and shown that they are beatable, but by taking down some of the top teams in the state with ease over the last couple weeks, the Huskies stay in the #1 spot for the entire season.

Corona Del Sol and Queen Creek remain knotted up in the #1 spot of the 6A Central Region. These two teams split with each other in their regular season series, giving Queen Creek the tie-breaker with the higher conference rank. But Monday's matchups can decide who takes this region. Corona dealt with their struggles early, and have revived their season with a chance to roll into the playoffs with some big wins under their belt and some confidence.

Canyon Del Oro has moved into the #1 spot in our rankings among 4A programs. The Dorados losses have come to some of the top teams in the state, also to teams in higher divisions. They got their revenge on rival Salpointe Catholic this past week, with a big emotional win that can help carry them through their playoff run. CDO has options on the mound and are led by upperclassmen who have been there and done that. Look for CDO deep in the 4A playoffs.

Verrado, Millennium, and Canyon View have been trading blows all year, with the region championship on the line tonight at Verrado. Millennium will travel to Verrado tonight to crown the 5A Desert West Region Champion. When these teams matchup, you're guaranteed an emotional bout, and tonight could be a look into what we see over the next couple weeks in the 5A post-season.
