Arkansas Insider: Unsigned Seniors

As we get closer to the NCAA early signing period players are making their commitments daily. This week look at a player from each position that is still uncommitted and their write up from our Unsigned Seniors Game at Hendrix College at the end of August.

Grant Pritchard, RHP, Pocahontas HS
Pritchard is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He works from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. He pitched off his fastball 81-83 mph touching 84 mph. He commanded both sides of the plate. He does a sound job repeating his mechanics with an effortless delivery. He would benefit from getting more extension to home plate. Overall Pritchard is a projectable right-hander with a large frame and a clean arm.

Austin Cross, LHP, Ashdown HS
Cross is a 5-foot-11 160-pound left-hander with a medium frame and an athletic build. He commanded the strike zone with his fastball 80-83 mph up to 84. He complimented that with a 1/7 curveball thrown 68-71 mph with near fastball arm speed. His mechanics are repeatable and maintains consistent rhythm through-out his delivery. He works from a drop and drive balance point and gets little extension. Overall Cross is a quality left-hander with some upside as he gain physical strength.

Caleb Regan, C, Farmington HS
Regan is a 5-foot-10 175-pound catcher with a medium frame and an athletic build. One the more offensive catchers in the event. Regan produced exit velocities up to 86 mph with a line drive swing with fast bat speed. He would benefit by incorporating his lower half with more aggression. Defensively he shows effort and aptitude while blocking. He threw pop times of 1.97-2.11 with an elongated exchange and an accurate arm. He has the arm strength to throw under a 2.00 on a consistent basis. Overall Reagan is a solid catcher with fast bat speed, as he develops physically he should be a sound collegiate catcher.

Rustin Hays, MIF, Hector HS
Hays is a 6-foot-3 180-pound switch-hitting infielder with a large frame and an athletic build. He is a strong offensive player. He starts from an athletic stance with a smooth load. He attacks the baseball with average bat speed and a slight uphill bat path. He maintains rhythm and balance throughout his swing. Offensively he has soft hands and a smooth transition and an arm that produces 80 mph from short stop. Overall Hays is a solid player that will transition to a corner infield position as he advances to the collegiate level. He is offensive enough to be a solid collegiate player.

Logan Allen, OF, Bryant HS
Allen is a 5-foot-8 155-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He ran a 6.86 in the 60. Defensively he worked through the baseball with a fluid exchange and an elongated arm action. He threw the ball 82 mph from the outfield accurately to bags. Offensively he starts from athletic stance, he uses a high leg kick as his load. He is some rhythm to his swing and generates fast bat speed. His swing has an uphill bat path. Overall Allen is a well-rounded player with solid athleticism. He should be able to compete at the collegiate level next fall.
