Below, we recap the best of the rest from the January 27th Ohio Unsigned Senior Showcase.

Alexander Marques, RHP, Fairborn HS

6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed pitching prospect with tall, thin frame. Showed a jump his velocity since the fall. Throws through a high ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sat 78-80 mph. Needs to improve off-speed pitches. Curveball is 69-70 mph and tends to be flat. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed at 74 mph and has occasional fade.

Austin Hoiles, 1B/C, Elmwood HS

6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect with big, solid frame. Registered a 7.87 60-yard dash. At first base, he showed short arm action through an over the top slot. Displays long exchange. Reached a top velocity of 63 mph on his throws. Behind the plate, he gets tall early, which slows down his momentum. Reached a top velocity of 69 mph behind the plate. Pop time sat between 2.38-2.49. At the plate, he starts with an open stance. Takes slightly uphill path to the ball and shows some pop in his bat.

Brice Bennett, RHP, Piketon HS

6-foot, 205-pound right-handed pitching prospect with thick, solid build. Uses a ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. Shows regular effort to his delivery. Fastball was straight and sat at 73-76 mph. Displayed good command of soft, 11/5 curveball that sat at 62-65 mph. Changeup shows some fade at 63-65 mph.

Cameron Thompson, C, Whetstone HS

6-foot-1, 180-pound catcher with strong, solid build. Registered 7.38 60-yard dash. Showed top velocity of 78 mph from the crouch. Pop times sat between 2.09-2.24. Needs to refine mechanics and find repeatability. Accuracy is an issue because of front side issues. Hits from an open stance. Uses chest level trigger, which leads to flat bat path. Shows good, raw power at the plate.

Cameron Willms, OF, Dublin Jerome HS

6-foot, 185-pound athlete with strong, athletic build and raw skills. Registered a 7.16 60-yard dash. Uses short arm action through low ¾ to ¾ arm slot, which causes some accuracy issues. Reached a top velocity of 77 mph. Needs to consistently play through the baseball. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance and uses a short stride. Shows a shoulder trigger and short path to the ball. Has some lunging tendencies in his swing. Produces line drives but shows potential for more power.

Chase Farris, 2B/OF, Tecumseh HS

5-foot9, 129-pound infield prospect with small, average frame. Registered a 7.52 60-yard dash. Shows short arm action through a high ¾ slot in the infield. Reached a top velocity of 59 mph. Shows average hands and feet. Needs to continue to add strength to enhance overall skill set. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a short stride with average bat speed. Displays backside tendencies in his swing.

Colby Rapier, SS/OF, Canal Winchester HS

6-foot, 155-pound prospect with lanky, athletic build. Registered a 7.54 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he showed quick arm action through a high ¾ slot while reaching a top velocity of 79 mph. Footwork in the outfield needs improvement as it mirrors infield work. In the infield, he projects as a third baseman. Needs to improve lateral quickness, but his hands work. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts with an open stance. Uses a short stride. Gets good torque with use of his lower half. Shows above average bat speed and pull tendencies in his swing.

Collin McMillan, 1B/RHP, Dublin Coffman HS

6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect with thick, solid build. Registered a 7.86 60-yard dash. Shows average footwork around the bag. Reached top velocity of 72 on his throws. Needs to improve quickness of his exchange and transfer. Shows some stiffness in setup at the plate. Uses short stride with partial use of his lower half. Takes level path to the ball. On the mound, he uses a high ¾ arm slot and tends to wrap his arm in his back arm action. Fastball sits 76-78 mph. Curveball sits 65-66 mph with 11/5 break. Changeup is erratic and sits at 65-66 mph.

Dalton Burger, 2B/RHP, Zane Trace HS

6-foot, 165-pound with solid build. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot to reach top velocity of 67 mph across the infield. Shows some stiffness in his actions. Tends to field the ball deep. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance. Takes a long stride, which causes some timing issues. Takes downward path to the ball. On the mound, he uses a slow rhythm and comes through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits at 73-76 mph. Curveball has late 11/5 break at 61-63 mph and changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 64-67 mph. 

Danny Fenker, C/1B, Turpin HS

5-foot-10, 205-pound catcher with thick, solid frame. Registered an 8.04 60-yard dash. At first base, he shows above average footwork and a quick transfer. Reached top velocity of 66 mph on his throws. Behind the plate, he reached a top velocity of 66 mph. Pop times sat between 2.3-2.46. Needs to close the front side to help with accuracy. At the plate,  he hits from an open stance and shows good use of his lower half. Shows some pull power in his swing. 

De’Marcus Wilson, OF/3B, Euclid

5-foot-9, 165-pound prospect with small, athletic build. Showed good athleticism with a 7.10 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he showed a top velocity of 73 mph using short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Needs to improve fluidity of his footwork. Looks more natural as an infielder, but needs to improve footwork and receiving the ball. Reached a top velocity of 72 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts in a slight crouch with a short stride. Starts with high hands. Takes a downward path to the ball. Uses a choppy rhythm to his swing that produces line drives.

Devin Van Winkle, 1B/3B, Jonathan Alder HS

6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect with thick, solid build. Registered a 7.51 60-yard dash. Shows short arm action and long exchange. Reached a top velocity of 66 mph. At the plate, shows some balance in his setup. Shows quick bat speed. Shows pull tendencies in his swing and generates some power.

Deryk Fain, C/3B, Urbana HS

6-foot-1, 190-pound catching prospect with solid frame. Registered a 8.22 60-yard dash. Throws from a ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph. Needs to close his front side to help improve accuracy issues as his ball has some tail. Uses a wide base for receiving. Pop times sat between 2.35 to 2.41. At the plate, he shows some bat speed and an uphill path to the ball. Shows some raw power, but needs to better incorporate lower half torque.

Devon Dager, 2B/OF, Granville HS

5-foot-10, 165-pound with average frame. Registered a 7.18 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 73 mph using long arm action through an over the top slot. In the infield, he showed some athleticism but tended to field the ball with flat feet. Shows quickness in his release and reached a top velocity of 69 mph across the infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance and a high hand trigger. Shows some quickness in his hands at the plate.

Isaac Pifer, OF/2B, Canal Winchester HS

6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect with long, solid build. Registered a 7.61 60-yard dash. In the outfield, he shows some athleticism. Reached a top velocity of 79 mph on his throws, but can easily improve by better incorporating his lower half. In the infield, he projects as a third baseman. Needs to improve lateral movement. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph across the infield. Offensively, he starts with a slightly open stance. Starts from a shoulder trigger and uses a short stride. Takes short, level path to the ball. Overall, displays fluid rhythm and line drive production.

Jared Purdy, 1B/LHP, Massillon HS

6-foot, 208-pound prospect. Registered a 7.56 60-yard dash. Shows a quick exchange and quick arm action around first base. Reached a top velocity of 64 mph. At the plate, he starts with a slightly closed stance. Uses a short stride, but doesn’t clear the front side. Shows partial use of his lower half. Generates line drive production. On the mound, he throws from a low ¾ to ¾ arm slot. Displays long arm action. Fastball sits 69-71 mph. His curveball shows gradual 2/8 break at 57-58 mph. Uses a palm ball that sits at 57-58 mph and shows similar movement to his breaking ball.

Joe White, OF/3B, Toledo St. Francis DeSales HS

5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect with thin, average frame. Registered a 7.14 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 75 mph. Shows shows short arm action through over the top arm slot. Needs to improve overall strength. Shows average hands and footwork. At the plate, the left-handed hitter starts with high hands that get away from the body, which creates some length to his swing. Needs to shorten up path to improve consistency and overall power. Contact type hitter at this stage.

Jordan Mueller, OF, Sycamore HS

6-foot-1, 160-pound outfield prospect with thin, average frame. From the outfield, he uses long arm action through a low ¾ arm slot, which creates some accuracy issues. Reached a top velocity of 74 mph on his throws. Needs to continue to improve footwork and exchange. At the plate, he starts with a slight crouch and uses a short stride. Creates line drive production with short, level path to the ball.

Joseph Swisher, IF/RHP, Westerville Central HS

5-foot-5, 155-pound prospect with small, athletic build. Dirt ball type player with high motor. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot to reach a top velocity of 73 mph across the infield. Shows some softness in his hands and quickness in his feet. Likely best suited for second base. Hits from open stance. Squares with good bat speed from shoulder trigger. Squares barrel very well with some controlled upper cut. Attacks ball with good hand finish and lower body torque. Has deliberate delivery from the mound from low ¾ to 3/4 arm slot. Fastball velocity is straight at 77-78 mph. Curveball has inconsistent spin and has some flatness at 66-68 mph while change is straight at 69-70 mph.

Kaleb Foltz, 2B, Pickerington Central HS

5-foot-8, 150-pound prospect with small, athletic build. Registered a 7.48 60-yard dash. Uses short arm action through an over the top slot to reach a top velocity of 69 mph across the infield. Lacks consistency with his accuracy at times. Shows average footwork and tends to be flat upon fielding the ball. At the plate, he starts with a high hand trigger and doesn’t use a stride. Shows partial use of his lower half. Takes a level path to the ball.

Kyle Durham, C, Perrysburg HS

5-foot-9, 190-pound catching prospect with thick, solid frame. Regsitered a 8.02 60-yard dash. Best tool is his bat. Swings it from the left side and the ball jumps off his bat. Triggers with a small leg kick. Shows excellent use of his lower half. Displays pull tendencies to his swing with power potential. Behind the plate, he showed short arm action, but needs to improve quickness of his feet. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph and pop times between 2.25-2.41.

Michael Knotts, RHP, Kenton Ridge HS

6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed pitching prospect that is returning from back surgery. Shows average arm speed through high ¾ arm slot. Shows short arm action and requires some effort to his delivery. Fastball sits at 77-80 mph with some run to it. Curveball sits at 68-69 mph with late break. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and shows some deception at 70-71 mph.

Nate Cass, C/OF, Galion HS

5-foot-11, 185-pound catcher with solid frame. Starts with slightly open stance. Uses short stride and decent use of his lower half. Shows some quickness in his hands. Takes uphill path to the ball and displays pull power. Behind the plate, he throws from a low ¾ arm slot, which creates some accuracy issues. Reached a top velocity of 68 mph. Pop times stayed between 2.44-2.59.

Pete Whitmer, 1B, Jonathan Alder HS

6-foot-1, 215-pound first baseman with thick, solid build. Shows some quickness in his transfer and exchange. Moves well around the bag. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph with short arm action. At the plate, he uses a slightly open stance with a short stride. Shows good use of his lower half and quickness in his bat speed. Displays some pop and power potential.

Richard Howard, RHP, Valley HS

6-foot-3, 205-pound southpaw that uses multiple arm slots. From his higher arm slot, his fastball sits 75-77 mph. From his lower arm slot, it sits at 71-74 mph and shows more run to it. His breaking ball sits at 62-64 mph from the higher slot and 59 mph from the lower slot. Tends to cuff it from each slot. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and is straight at 65-66 mph.

Trea Atherton, OF/1B, Mount Vernon HS

6-foot, 200-pound prospect with average, soft frame. Uses long arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 72 mph from the outfield and 59 mph from first base. Needs to improve footwork and overall strength. At the plate, he starts with a balanced stance. Shows partial use of his lower half. Takes flat path to the ball and shows some raw power in the process.

Tyler Bowman, C/SS, Jefferson Morgan HS

5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect with average build. Registered a 7.14 60-yard dash. Behind the plate, his pop times sat between 2.22-2.35. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph behind the crouch. Needs to work on accuracy of his throws. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance. Uses a short stride with average bat speed. Takes level path to the ball.

Tyler Stephenson, OF/C, Midview HS

6-foot, 150-pound prospect with thin, athletic build. Registered a 7.59 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 79 mph. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Shows average hands and feet. Behind the plate, he reached a top velocity of 75 mph. His pop times sat between 2.23 to 2.25. Uses wide base for receiving. Overall, his hands work well. Offensively, he starts from a slight crouch. Shows some lunging tendencies in his swing. Takes uphill path to the ball.

Zach Foster, SS/2B, Elmwood HS

6-foot-1, 165-pound prospect that projects best as a second baseman. Registered a 7.23 60-yard dash. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Reached top velocity of 64 mph. Needs to improve use of his lower half and shorten length of transfer and exchange. Tends to field the ball with flat feet. At the plate, he takes a long stride and shows partial use of his lower half. Takes flat, level path to the ball.

Zach Roe, LHP/OF, Buckeye Trail HS

5-foot-10, 150-pound prospect with athletic build that projects best as an outfielder at the next level. Registered a 7.02 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 76 mph with short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Shows some softness in his hands and quickness in his feet. Needs to consistently play through the ball. At the plate, the left-handed hitter shows some balance in his setup and uses a short stride. He takes a level path to the ball that leads to a backside, line drove production. On the mound, he showed a 71-73 mph fastball through a high ¾ arm slot. He uses quick tempo, but lacks torque and an inward turn to his delivery. His off-speed pitches include a gradual 63-65 mph breaking ball and a 66-67 mph changeup with occasional fade.
