Donnel Bailey, OF, Blackman HS, 2016

The 2016 OF prospect from Blackman HS had an impressive showing at the Fall Top Prospect Games at Lipscomb University.

At 6-foot, 190-pounds, Bailey is put together well with an athletic frame and strong legs. Though not a burner, Bailey ran a 4.85 down the first base line, but what caught attention was his offensive skill set and upside.  At the plate he displays quick, strong hands and wrists. He gets the bat through the zone with a short yet powerful swing and gets good extension, flashing middle of the line-up power potential.  Bailey posted an 84 mph exit velocity off the tee, a number that tied for fifth best of the event.

Defensively, Bailey was solid as well, showing easy athletic effort.  He showed 83 mph arm strength from the outfield with accurate throws that displayed on line carry to the bag.  Bailey is not yet a finished product as he should continue to improve and become a more refined outfielder and hitter.  He has good upside and established himself as a player to keep a close eye on in the 2016 class.
