The Christiansburg Blue Demons traveled down the mountain to Roanoke to take-on the Cave Spring Knights, defeating the home team in a 7-4 in a see-saw battle.

Blue Demon's starter sophomore Brady Kirtner cruised through the first, striking out two, topping out at 86 mph. In the bottom on the first, Zack Taft's one out double set up the first score of the evening when Ryan McFee's singled in Taft, providing an early lead.

In the second Cave Spring's Caleb Pritchard reached base on a hit by pitch and moved to second on a passed ball. AJ Cacciatore walked, and Pritchard advanced to third base on another passed ball. A Wyatt Hage's sacrifice fly would score Pritchard and tie the score at one apiece.

In the home third the bats got going for the Knights. Logan Altizer's one out single and a walk to Jalen Buster set up a booming three-run home run by Trey Hodson which flew over the scoreboard in left-center field and gave Cave Spring a 4-1 advantage.

Down three runs the Blue Demons engineered a rally in the top of the fifth. Zach Durham would lead-off with a single in the fifth. A single by Will Stout and a walk by Taft and the bases were loaded. Zalen Akers was hit by a pitch and Durham jogged across the plate. Pinch hitter Chris Matney's two-run single scored Stout and Taft and the Blue Demons tied the score 4-4. Kirtner helped his cause scoring Akers with an infield single, pushing the score to 5-4 for the visitors

The Blue Demons picked up two more runs in the sixth. Stout was hit by a pitch, and Taft walked, and Akers drove in both runners with a double.

Cave Spring bats were silenced for the last three innings. Kirtner was strong on the hill with seven strikeouts in five innings. LHP Kevon Lambert worked the last two innings and was perfect, facing the minimum with one strikeout.
