Throughout the West Virginia high school baseball regular season we will be posting a Power 5 in each classification. Updates will be made for Class AAA on Mondays, AA on Tuesdays and A on Wednesdays. Check back frequently at PBR West Virginia to follow team and individual results from the previous week. Today we take a a look at our week 2 A top 5.

CHARLESTON CATHOLIC

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Brandon Combs, 3B/RHP, #9 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings, Transylvania recruit

Summary:

The Irish remain unbeaten early in the season at 5-0. Brandon Combs and Dominic Martin each drove in two in a lopsided 12-1 win over Fayetville. Earlier in the week, Jacob Huffland threw 3 scoreless innings and produced a two run single in a tight 3-1 win over Beckley Christian.

ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Noah Beter, SS/2B, #21 PBR West Virginia Class of 2019 Rankings

2. Lenny Washington, RHP/3B, #4 PBR West Virginia Class of 2020 Rankings

Summary:

St. Joseph Central blew out Cross Lanes Christian 9-0 in their only game this week. Noah Beter, Lenny Washington, Charles White and Connor Joseph combined to go 9-for-11 with 8 RBI.

WILLIAMSTOWN                            

PBR Ranked Players:

Summary:

The Yellowjackets easily defeated Notre Dame 12-6 in their only game of the week. Individual stats were not available.

WHEELING CENTRAL

PBR Ranked Players:

Summary:

Wheeling Central defeated Linsly 11-8 in their only game this week to move to 2-0. Individual stats were not available.

MOOREFIELD

PBR Ranked Players:

1. None

Summary:

Moorefield sneaks in at #5, replacing Ravenswood, despite going 0-2 the past week. The Yellowjackets have loaded their early season schedule with quality larger school opponents. Although presently sitting at 2-3, they have acquitted themselves well when considering the schedule. In this weeks two losses Moorefield received outstanding pitching from Garrett Haggerty and Blake Watts. Watts followed up his 4 inning, 0 ER, 1 hit, 9 SO outing against Jefferson, by holding Wheeling Park to 1 ER over 5 Innings. Haggerty went 7.1 innings giving up 2 ER in a heartbreaking 3-2 walk off loss to Oak Glenn
