With the help of Michael Stewart and Nigel Williams, Collegiate would hold off the late rally by the Ambassadors of Norfolk Christian to win this one by a score of 6-5.

Stewart got the start for the Cougars and would somewhat cruise through the first five innings of work on Wednesday, only allowing one run during that time.

However, the Cougars would not wait to jump on the board. They would send home Williams on a Lew Rice single in the first that would make it 1-0.

In the second Williams would bring home a few runs of his own, driving in two with a double to center making it 3-0 Collegiate.

Sophomore Eli Coley would put the Ambassadors on the board in the top of the third with a ground ball to Williams making it 3-1.

Collegiate would answer Norfolk Christian's score with one of their own, but this one would come via an error with two outs.

After making it 4-1 the score would hold until the bottom of the fifth when John Ballowe would double down the left field line and make it 6-1 Collegiate.

Norfolk Christian closed the gap in the sixth, as they got the first two hitters on to start the inning. Norfolk Christian was able to manufacture a few runs on ground ball, an error, and a single making it 6-5. With two runners on and two outs Norfolk Christian catcher Sebastian Silva would lace a line drive, but it was right to the Cougar second baseman to end the inning.

When Collegiate came back out for the top of the seventh junior right hander Williams would get the Norfolk Christian hitters in order to end this one at 6-5 in favor of the Collegiate Cougars.

Stewart threw five and two-thirds, allowing three earned runs, and striking out four.

Williams came in for the save. He threw one and one-third shutout innings and only allowed one hit while striking out one.

Rice and Williams paced the Cougar offense on the day. Williams had three hits, two of which were doubles, and two RBI. Rice had two hits, one being a double, scored one run, and drove in one.

Ty Johnson threw five and two-thirds for the Ambassadors. He allowed five earned runs and struck out four along the way. He also had a hit and scored a run for the offense.

Baraka Florence was three-for-three on the night with a double and two RBI.
