The Collegiate (Richmond) Cougars, No. 20 in the VA/DC Power 25, found a way to scratch two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to sneak past Cape Henry Collegiate in Saturday's Richmond Invitational matchup 4-2.

Sophomore Michael Stewart took to the mound for Collegiate Cougars as Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins went with senior Aaron Torres (Shenandoah) to start things off.

The two schools traded runs in the first inning as Cape Henry's Trent Jones started the day off with a single, followed by an Aiden Kuhle double to left-center, and Jacob Colbus was able to bring a run home with a sacrifice fly. Collegiate quickly answered in the bottom half when Reifsnider was able to help himself out by blasting a solo homer into centerfield.

Second baseman, Dane Hoggard, singled home Matt Ballance (Virginia Tech) in the top of the third, making it a 2-1 ballgame. Collegiate, once again, answered in the bottom half of the inning on a Lew Rice RBI ground-out that Trey Boll (Virginia) was able to score on.

The two teams remained squared until the bottom of the sixth when Collegiate's lineup was able to manufacture a couple of runs off of Cape Henry's sophomore Hoggard. Reifsnider got the inning started with a single through the right side of the infield, Rice followed up by shooting a double into left-center, Oney was able to bring home Reifsnider on a sacrifice fly, and Ball topped it off by running the suicide-squeeze play to perfection to bring home Rice. Cougars led 4-2 after six innings of play.

Collegiate brought in Reifsnider to close the door in the seventh and earn the save, topping off a great game all around for the James Madison commit.

Both starting pitchers earned no-decisions in the contest. Stewart's pitching line: 4 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 1 BB. Torres pitching line: 4 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 5 K, 2 BB.

Collegiate Cougars were led offensively by Reifsnider who had a monster day including two doubles, a homer, while managing to score three times. Rice also contributed with an RBI and double in the game.

Cape Henry tallied eight hits in the loss, but was unable to produce enough offense to come away with the win. Jones went 2-3, Ballance was 2-4, Kuhle was also 2-4, while Colbus and Hoggard accounted for the Dolphin's two runs batted in.
