McQuiad Jesuit - 6          DH Conley - 7    (9 innings)

The Vikings, ranked No. 11 in the most updated PBR Power 25 in NC,  opened up the USA Baseball National High School Invitational on Thursday against national powerhouse, Marjory Stoneman Douglas (FL) and took one on the chin, losing 15-0.  The Vikings bounced back with some flare on Thursday as they took on McQuiad Jesuit, out of NY in the consolation bracket. 

McQuiad took a quick 2-0 lead in the first, scoring unearned runs off of a throwing error and wild pitch.  DH Conley answered quickly, scoring one in the bottom of the first on a safety squeeze. 

Down 4-1, Riley Williams led off with a triple in the, and was brought home on a RBI single from Matthew Matthjis.  Later a Bryce Jackson double paid off with an RBI single from Luke Lambert to make it a 4-3 game.

McQuiad pushed the lead to 6-3 in the 7th with a leadoff walk, advancing to 3B on a throwing error.  He then stole home.  The Vikings' 7th saw Bryce Jackson and Spencer Bradley plate runs with on singles.  With the game at 6-5, Luke Lambert grounded out, scoring the tying run.

In the 9th, Riley Williams led off for Conley with a walk and moved up on a Matthew Mattjijs single.  A McQuiad error loaded the bases and setup a dramatic walk-off where another McQuiad error plated the winning run.

DH Conley will play again on Friday.   At the time of posting this story, the schedule for Friday had not posted to USA Baseball's website.
