CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - We had a fantastic trip down to south Texas for the first event in Corpus Christi. Roughly thirty players attended. Here is the pitching analysis.

Derek Saenz, RHP/C, King HS, 2020
Saenz has a durable frame with a strong lower half at 5-foot-11, 195-pounds. The right-hander works from a high slot with fast arm swing. Drop-and-drive delivery, he gets good down the mound with good hip turn, landing in line with an athletic finish. His fastball topped out at 89 mph, sitting mostly 86-87 mph with tilt. His curveball was 75-78 from the windup with early break and 12/6 shape, but he did throw a sharper one from the stretch at 74 mph. His changeup was 78-80 mph with arm side fade. Saenz comes from good bloodlines as his older brother pitching in college, with his current arm speed, athletic delivery, and the ability to flash spin, he is an arm that college coaches will want to follow up with this fall and into the early high school season.

Gray Harrison, RHP/SS, Westlake HS, 2020
6-foot-1, 160-pound, lean, athletic frame. The right-hander works from a high slot with long arm swing, high leg lift, drop-and-drive delivery, and quick hand out front as he clears his front side. His fastball has late giddy up at 85-86. His curveball has tight rotation and drops off the table with 12/6 rotation at 71-72. Threw his changeup with with fastball arm speed at 72-76 mph. Also worth mentioning, he ran a 7.12 60-yard dash and threw 90 mph across the infield.

Oscar Zepeda, RHP/1B, Incarnate Word Academy, 2020
6-foot, 165-pounds. The right-hander has a clean arm swing from a ¾-ish slot, with a short circle and elbow dominant arm action. Fastball shows life at 82-84, slider has good 10/4 shape at 72-73, and he has feel for a changeup with arm side fade at 77-78. We have seen Zepeda up to 86 this summer, and the pitchability is already there.

Seth Trevino, RHP/OF, Klein Collins HS, 2020
6-foot-1, 170-pound frame. Trevino’s arm works well from a ¾ slot with a long arm stroke. Drop-and-drive delivery with good hip turn and some effort at hand break. His fastball sat 81-82 mph, topping out once at 84 mph. His slider has short break with 11/5 shape at 71-73 mph and he can spin it for a stirke. Changeup has arm side fade at 79-81 and acts more like a two-seamer.

Camden Guarnere, RHP/3B, Barbers Hill HS, 2019
5-foot-10, 155-pound frame. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Gaurnere works from an over the top slot with some deception in his delivery and arm stroke. The fastball has arm side life at 80-82, threw a couple of quality sliders with short, late break at 73-74, and throws his changeup with same arm speed and fade at 72-75.

Jose Amador, OF/LHP, King HS, 2020
5-foot-9, 140-pound, wiry frame. A two-way player and left-handed pitcher, Amador threw his fastball 75-77, but he also throws a 1/7 shaped slider at 70-72 mph, and he can command three pitches for strikes, including his 73-75 mph changeup.

MacLean Harkins, 3B/RHP, Westlake HS, 2020
Harkins has a durable frame with a strong lower half at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. The right-hander works from an over the top slot with a long arm stroke and reach out of the glove. Tall-and-fall delivery, he dotted up his fastball at 80-81 with tilt. Curveball flashes tight rotation with 12/6 shape and short break at the bottom of the zone. Threw his changeup 72-75 mph. 

Hunter Nevilles, OF/RHP, Calallen HS, 2019
5-foot-10, 172-pound frame. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Nevilles topped out at 85 mph, working mostly 80-84. Working from a hig-¾ slot with a long arm swing, Nevilles utilizes a drop-and-drive delivery, landing in line with an athletic finish and quick hand out front. Spun his curveball at 70-72 mph with early break and 12/6 shape. Changeup comes out of the same tunnel with fastall arm speed, flashing depth at 72-74 mph.

Dane Swoboda, C/RHP, Robert E. Lee HS, 2020
Swoboda has a durable, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. The right-hander works from a high slot with a long arm swing and tilted shoulders. Tall-and-fall delivery, lands slightly across his body, creating good sinking action on his fastball at 82 mph. Shows good feel for his slider with 11/5 shape and short break in the zone at 69-70 mph. Pumped strikes for the duration of his outing and repeats his release point. 

Jeremy Garcia, LHP/OF, Antonian Prep, 2019
5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. The left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short, clean arm stroke. Drop-and-drive delivery with a high left lift and athletic finish. Located his fastball at 73-75 mph. His changeup was 68-69 mph, while his curveball had early break with 1/7 shape at 61 mph.
