No. 21 Smackover High School 9 vs Harding Academy 7

Smackover High School beat Harding Academy 9-7 Friday, afternoon on the campus of University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This game was a matchup between the established and the up and comers. Smackover with a strong senior class should be considered a team to beat in the 3A classification, while Harding Academy is a young but talented team trying to figure out if they are ready to contend.

This game was great reflection of this. Early the game was all Smackover, 2015 LHP Logan Clark, dominated the game only allowing 1 run in his 5 innings pitched. The run came when 2016 C J. Paul Fullerton was hit by a pitch, stole second, advanced to third on a groundball, and scored on a passed ball.

Offensively Smackover took advantage of what Harding Academy gave them scoring 8 runs in the first 5 innings, only 3 of them earned.

After Clark’s day ended Harding Academy exploded for 6 runs in the top of the 6^th to climb back into the game. Smackover answered with manufacturing a run in the bottom of the 6^th to push the score to 9-7.

Harding didn’t go quietly in the 7^th as they had two men reach and advance to 2^nd and 3^rd with 2 outs, while 2018 MIF Pate Fullerton put a charge into a ball that was ran down to end the game .
