A busy week end of baseball around the state, tournaments in the Little Rock metro with Mid-America Tournaments, American Legion tournaments at Jacksonville and Paragould. Friday I sat in on the Mid-America tournaments at Burns Park, Saturday I watched games at the 7Up classic in Paragould. I am headed back to Paragould today.

Jonesboro Ricemen 4 vs Blytheville American Legion

Jonesboro Ricemen defeated Blytheville American Legion 4-3 in the second round of the 7Up Classic in Paragould. They were led by a strong pitching performance by 2015 RHP Kollin Stone. Stone pitched 6 strong innings to pick up the win. 2015 RHP Mason Gibson picked up the save working a perfect 7th.

Stone just didn’t throw it well he contributed offensively in the 3rd he drove a ball out of the ball park to tie the game 1-1 after Blytheville jumped out to an early lead scoring 1 in the second. 2015 RHP Will Camp and Stone stay locked in a pitchers dual until the bottom of the 5th when 2015 C Dillion Groves cleared hit a double to drive in 3 to put the Ricemen up 4-1. Blytheville answered with 2 of their own in the 6th, but fell just short. Jonesboro advanced to play the winner of Poplar Bluff vs Paragould Ford at 3:00 Pm on Sunday, while Blytheville will play the loser of Poplar Bluff vs Paragould Ford at 1:00 PM.

Poplar Bluff (MO) 4 vs Paragould Ford 1

Poplar Bluff received a great outing from LHP Tanner Tibbs and manufactured enough runs to beat Paragould Ford 4-1.

Poplar Bluff scored 1 in the 1st when CIF Joe Darlin doubled down the line and later scored on LHP Tanner Tibbs fielder’s choice.

Scoring remained silent for both sides until the 4th when Poplar Bluff took advantage of Paragould Ford’s mistakes, they scored 2 runs on a 1 walk, 1 hit by pitch, 1 balk and 2 errors to stretch their lead to 3-0. Ronin Rice drove in a run in the 5th to put Poplar Bluff up 4-0.

4 runs was more than enough for Tanner Tibbs. Tibbs pitched 6 innings striking out 7 while walking just 1 and allowing 4 hits. He had a no hitter through four innings. He did a good job locating his fastball and curveball on a consistent basis keeping Paragould off balance.

Poplar Bluff will play the Ricemen of Jonesboro at 3:00 Pm on Sunday while Paragould Ford will play Blytheville at 1:00 PM.
