Kenosha Bradford 3, Willoughby South (OH) 1

Willoughby South HS (OH) was never able to get over the hump against Bradford HS on Thursday, as Willoughby South fell 3-1 at the Disney ESPN Sports Complex after falling behind by three runs after the second inning.

The Red Devils struck quickly in the first inning hanging a two spot on the board, followed up by another run in the third.

That proved to be enough for sophomore left hander Kyle Schulz who struck out eight hitters en route to the Red Devils win. Schulz allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk over seven innings.

Ty Jandrowski and Tony DeBartolo led the way with two hits a piece. Jandrowski also added an RBI.

Eastern (NJ) 1, Kenosha Bradford 0

Colton Lee did not allowed a run on Thursday at Disney ESPN Sports Complex, but Bradford  couldn't get the offense going in a 1-0 extra inning defeat to Eastern (NJ).

Lee held Eastern (NJ) scoreless for 7 1/3 innings, allowing just three hits while scattering five walks and striking out two.

After giving up a double in the 8^th inning Lee was relieved by Vinnie Hubli. After an intentional walk, Eastern scored the game winning run via an error after an attempted steal of third base.

Vinnie Cullota led the offense with two hits for Bradford.

St. Francis de Sales (OH) 9, Kenosha Bradford 8

Kenosha Bradford lost a battle of the bats on Wednesday at Disney ESPN Sports Complex, falling short in a 9-8 ballgame against St. Francis de Sales, OH.

Senior Tony DeBartolo racked up three RBI on two hits for the Red Devils. He doubled in the second and sixth innings.

Vinnie Hubli and Andrew Luscomb also added doubles. Jake Costabile, Kyle Schulz and Luke Sinclair all had two hits for the Red Devils in their offensive outburst.

Eau Claire Memorial 10, Milwaukee Riverside University 0

Eau Claire Memorial has big expectations in 2013 and they opened their season at the Metrodome in Minnesota and made short work of Milwaukee Riverside on Thursday beating them in a shortened contest 10-0.

Jacob Sparger opened the season on the mound for the Old Abes, and the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2013 did not disappoint. Sparger went the distance pitching all five innings and facing only 18 batters. Of the 15 outs recorded by the Old Abes Sparger took care of 12 of them on his own recording 12 strikeouts on the day. Sparger was extremely efficient on the day finishing his outing throwing just 66 pitches, 50 of which were strikes.

Offensively, Dalton Roach, Justin Lund and Ben Everhart helped lead the way for Eau Claire Memorial. They combined for seven hits and three RBI. Roach was a perfect 3-for-3 while driving in two RBI and scoring two runs.

Brennan Richmond and Kendric Newsome recorded the only hits for the Tigers.

Grant (IL) 18, Westosha Central 1

Westosha Central wound up on the wrong side of a 18-1 score on Thursday at Central, tasting defeat at the hands of Grant (IL).

James Gorsline did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Falcons, reaching base two times. He also recorded the lone RBI as he doubled in the third inning.

Grant (IL) easily handled the Falcon pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

St. Catherine’s 10, Martin Luther 0

The St. Catherine's Angels jumped out to an early lead on Martin Luther and captured a 10-0 victory on Thursday at Horlick Field.

Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Angels to put the game away early.

A sacrifice fly by Shey Smith, an RBI single by Jimmy Carrington, and an RBI single by Eric Eitel started the onslaught in the first inning. In the second Smith struck again with an RBI triple followed by an RBI single by Eric Weisbrod (Des Moines Area CC), an RBI single by Jimmy Carrington, and an RBI double by Derek Heffel.

Wisconsin Parkside commit Shey Smith reached base three times, scored one run and had one RBI.

St. Catherine's Derek Heffel (No. 5 prospect in the Class of 2014) kept Martin Luther off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the hill. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound righty pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up seven.

Cuba City 7, Blackhawk 0

Cuba City put up seven runs on the Blackhawk pitching yesterday. Much in large part to the Blackhawk pitching, as they couldn’t find the zone surrendering 11 walks on the day.

North Crawford 9, Wauzeka-Steuben 7

Wauzeka-Steuben put up five runs in the first inning but couldn’t hold on to the lead as they fell to North Crawford 9-7. The Trojans scored 4 runs in the sixth inning to secure the victory.

Joe Bedessem, Nick Gillespie and Eric Friar each had two hits for the Trojans.
