Dane Giesler Drives in Four as Jasper Wins HOF Classic

Jasper, IN - Jasper and Evansville Harrison faced off in the finale of the Hall of Fame Baseball Classic. Harrisson jumped on the board first, but Jasper dominated the rest of the game.

Brandon Francis (2013) led off the game with a single and Alex Brinson (2012) followed that with a double. After and out Will Coy singled to right bringing home the first run on the game. That woud be all that Jasper sophomore Spencer Otto would allow though.

In the bottom of the first Jasper responded with a big inning. Caleb Begle (2012) and Nick Gobert (2013) led off the game with back to back bunt singles. Mark Giesler (2013) followed up the singles with a double into the gap bringing home both runners. Later in the inning with the bases loaded Karson Nixon (2012) singled to left bring home two more runs, putting Jasper up 4-1 after the first.

Jasper added three more in the fourth when Dane Giesler (2012) drove a ball over the left field wall for a three run homerun, giving Japser a 7-1 advantage. Geisler drove in another run in the sixth with a RBI double down the right field line. Otto also drove a run in during the sixth inning with a RBI single.

After the first inning Otto shut down the Harrison offense, allowing just six hits and striking out three over the final six innings to get the win.

Jasper was crowned the Champions of the Hall of Fame Classic going 3-0 during the weekend. They also beat Evansville North (13-3) and New Haven (7-6).
