Day 2: Rochester Baseball Classic



13U NT Americans 14 SU Elite 0 (6 innings)
Casey O’Bryan hurled a 2-hit shutout for the win. The right-hander issued two walks, retired the last 10 batters he faced and allowed just three balls out of the infield. Andrew Stillinger paced the offense going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. The shortstop sparked a three-run third with an RBI triple, and the American grabbed a 7-0 lead. O’Bryan reached base four times going 3-for-3 with a hit by pitch and three runs scored. Wally Wisniewski was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Tyler Baughman went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. NT’s infield turned a pair of inning-ending double plays. 

13U Lancaster Mayhem 7 Syracuse Spartans 1
Dominic Fulciniti surrendered seven hits in a complete-game effort. The lanky right-hander struck out two, walked three and showed poise stranding runners in all but one inning. The athletic hurler made a trio of fantastic defensive plays coming off the mound. Jonah Ahrens and Gage Tumpaloff both finished 3-for-3 in the game. The duo sparked a two-run first to give Lancaster a lead it never surrendered. Ahrens knocked a one-out single through the right side of the infield. Tumpaloff singled off the third base bag, and Sean Melligan started the scoring with a bloop single. Matthew Jandzinzki made it a 2-0 game with an RBI ground out. Ahrens and Tumpaloff rapped back-to-back one-out doubles in the fifth to make it a 6-1 game. Melligan turned in a trio of impressive defensive plays at third showing the ability to go to his knees to make the stop and get up and fire across the infield for the out. Jed Brazo tripled to lead the Syracuse second and scored one out later when Noah Klasen roped an opposite field base hit.

13U Bullettproof Prospects 7 Elmira Jr. Pioneers 6
Sam Nawrocki worked a leadoff walk to start the seventh and came around to score the eventual game-winning run as Bullettproof held off a late Elmira rally. Nawrocki moved to second on another walk, swiped a bag and came home to score when the throw to third sailed into left field. Hudson Krawchuck worked a perfect seventh for the save. Ben Monfils and Tye Meloche paced the offense as Bullettproof grabbed a four-run lead. Monfils walked to start the second, stole second and moved to third on a Meloche hit. Krawchuck doubled the pair home as part of a three-run inning. Monfils singled, stole a base and scored on a Meloche base hit in the fourth. Monfils plated Kai Arroyo with a double to the right center gap in the sixth. Keegan Cummings connected on a two-out, two-run single in the sixth to knot the score at six. Cummings finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBI. 

14U Ottawa Chiefs 7 Buffalo Outlaws 0
Liam Turner and Logan Klein combined for a shutout. Mike Millross drove in three with a pair of hits. Millross sparked a three-run fifth with a lead-off single. Andrew Sahadeo brought in another run with a single and eventually scored on an error. Millross delivered a bases-clearing triple in the sixth. Buffalo’s Joseph Malone had a single in the sixth.  

14U Syracuse Spartans 7 Buffalo Outlaws 5
Ryan Carsoniti brought home the game winner with a sacrifice fly in a three-run seventh. Syracuse’s Jackson Engle collected three hits and two RBI including a sacrifice fly in the seventh to make it a 7-5 game. Corsoniti had three hits including a double and two RBI. Buffalo’s Trevor Mcllroy had a double and three hits along with an RBI.  Joseph Milone had a hit and provided a go-ahead groundout in fourth.

14U Gaffer Baseball 8 Ottawa Chiefs 7
Gaffer scored all eight runs in second inning. Johnathan Haines paced the outburst with a two-run double. Derrick Lewis also had an RBI and closed it out getting a 6-4-3 double play with bases loaded to end the game.  Ottawa’s Mike Millross had two hits while Ryan Klein drove in a pair with two hits. After trailing 8-1, Ottawa put four on the scoreboard in the fifth and two in the sixth to cut the deficit to one.

14U Gaffer Baseball 4 Rochester Cougars 1
Mason Smith came on with bases loaded and retired the only batter he faced to close out the win. Gaffer scored three in the second sparked by a bunt single from Johnny Greene and an RBI single from Brody BarlensteinZack Odum had two hits including an RBI single in the seventh for Gaffer. Barlenstein also had two hits. Andrew Doupe drove in Rochester’s only run with a double.
