Day Two Highlights

With Day 2 of games and practices in the books, there was all kinds of action with talent going off from beautiful, and all turf Boombah Sports Complex.

PITCHER OF THE DAY

Jack Mount OF / RHP / Gloucester , ON / 2020

Report: Mount, a 2020 right-hander came out sitting 84-86 over his scoreless 2.1 innings of work. Arm had some length in the back with slow tempo delivery which seemed to allow him to pound the zone. Pitch count was low and Mount wasted little time attacking hitters. No doubt pitcher of the day on day 2 of games.

PLAYER OF THE DAY

Jacob Douglas C / 1B / St.Marys , ON / 2019

Report: Douglas, an uncommitted 2019 from the Ontario Nationals left the yard with a deep home run to left field as he turned on the first fastball he saw with a no doubter. He would later double into the gap as well and showed the power potential he is capable of.

PLAY OF THE DAY

Jack Hourahine SS / 2B / Monsignor Doyle, ON / 2021

Report: 2021 IF Hourahine has impressed with his glove, and on Monday he made an outstanding play going to his right to snag a sinking line-drive. With a quick first-step, Hourahine took a direct path to catch the sailing ball off the bat of a left-handed hitter while in a shifted position. Hourahine can pick it at shortstop, and highlight reel plays are no coming from him.

SENIOR STEAL

Nicholas Styles 3B / OF / Stayner Collegiate Institute, ON / 2019

Report: Styles is a left-handed hitter from the Nationals with feel at the plate and the ability to use the whole field. Styles is a 7.00 runner and has the ability to play multiple positions defensively.

SURPRISE OF THE DAY

Ayden Wood OF / LHP / Courtice Secondary School, ON / 2020

Report: Wood, a young 2020 left-hander jumped on the mound for two plus innings of work versus a talented Elite Squad and held his own, while topping out at 83 mph. The delivery and arm action plays, while he garnered swings and misses with the curveball. He gets out the box well and is also a threat on the bases, with some feel at the plate from the left side. Very intriguing 20’ grad and one to watch closely.
