Deep Run Spring Break Tournament: Day 3

Caroline 12, Monacan 2

Caroline broke it open early with seven runs in the first two innings and would end up winning the game by a score of 12-2 in six innings. John Chapman would get the win for the Cavaliers on the mound. Caroline would finish the tournament at 1-3 and Monacan would go 0-4 on the week.

Seth Shannon led the way offensively for Caroline. He was 2-3 with a triple, four RBI, and scored three runs.

John Chapman threw five innings scattering seven hits, five strikeouts, and gave up one earned run. Jalen Greenidge had another nice day. He was 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Jack Carris was 1-3 with a run scored.

Matoaca 12, Midlothian 5

Midlothian had a three run 1st, but Matoaca would answer with two of their own in the bottom half. After that Matoaca would not let up and would score in every inning but the 5th and would run away with this one with a final score of 12-5 in favor of the Warriors from Matoaca.

Matoaca would finish the tournament at 2-1, while Midlothian would drop two of their three for the week.

Lucas Carmichael was 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Chase Garrett had a strong day at the plate and on the mound. Garrett was 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI. On the mound he threw five and two-thirds allowing three earned on six hits and struck out four. Senior shortstop Ethan Everhart was 2-3 with three runs scored.

For Midlothian Carson Fuller was 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Logan Smith was 1-3 with an RBI and had some solid at bats on the day.

Deep Run 7, St. Chris. 4

St. Christopher's would tie things up at 2-2 in the top of the 6th, but Deep Run would have a big inning from some of their senior bats to break it open at 7-2. St. Chris mounted a rally in the 7th, but left the bases loaded with the go ahead run at the plate to end it at 7-4.

Scott Sweeney paced the Wildcat offense and was 4-4 with two runs scored and stole two bags. Eli Weisner and Tyler Bradt both had multiple hits and two doubles a piece for Deep Run. Brandon Hill threw six strong innings allowing two earned runs and scattering eight hits.

For the Saints Griffin O'Ferrall was 1-3 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored. Tate Gathright went 2-4 on the day with a double.

The freshman Jacob Carnley battled on the mound all day long. He threw five and one-third allowing twelve hits, four earned runs, and struck out six.

Benedictine 10, Lee-Davis 0

Benedictine used some walks and a few timely hits to cash in on a five run 1st and would not look back. The Cadets would score in every inning after that and would end this one in five innings by a score of 10-0. The Cadets took home the championship trophy in convincing fashion scoring 32 runs in three games and only allowed three earned runs throughout the tournament.

In the championship game Jay Woolfolk had a very nice outing throwing four innings and striking out nine while only allowing three hits.

Woolfolk was also 3-3 at the plate scoring three runs and had one RBI. Bennett Lloyd was 3-4 with two RBI capping off a strong three day stretch at the plate.

For Lee-Davis Jalen Strattman had a strong showing at the plate as he went 2-2 on the night. Caden Plummer was 1-1 with a double down the left field line.
