Delphi Junior RHP Jason Sterrett was one hit away from throwing a complete game no-htter for the Oracles Thursday evening.  Clinton Central’s Jeff Scott singled to center in the sixth for the Bulldogs only hit of the game.

Clinton Central took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but failed to put a run across the plate the rest of the night.

Delphi tied the game in their half of the first when Brent Hawn scored on an error. The game remained tied at one a piece through the first four innings.

In the bottom half of the fifth the Oracles put one run across to take a 2-1 advantage when Garrett Bean scored on a wild pitch.

In the sixth, Codey Sattler singled to center to get things going offensively for Delphi.  Ricky Windell followed up with a single of his own to put runners on first and third.  Cody Miller hit into a fielder’s choice to the short stop which brought in Sattler, giving the Oracles a two run lead at 3-1, which would end up being the final score.

The player of the game was Sterrett.  The lefty went the full seven innings allowing just one hit and one run while striking out 16 Bulldog hitters.

Delphi will face Seeger on Monday.  Seeger defeated Fountain Central in yesterday’s night cap.
