Texas Dream Team 2020

Phil Haig
Texas Scouting Director

Texas 2020 Dream Team was a fun roster to make and could have gone in many different directions but settled on these 15 players. The roster includes a mixture of hitters, speed, power, defense, and power arms. With a class so talented at the SS position, we had to slide a couple SS around to get in the lineup. Youll also notice the abundance of power arms with swing and miss off stuff, as well as a few guys that would contribute both on the mound and in the box. Lets take a deeper look into the Dream Team of 2020.

SP

Jared Kelley, RHP, Refugio,
Easy and effortless upper 90’s fastball up to 100. Plus CH to go with it.

RP

Cam Brown, RHP, Flower Mound
up to 95 with a plus slider, polished with power stuff and a swing and miss SL

Justin Lange, RHP, Llano
Burst on the scene this spring with a FB up to 100 and commanding it to both sides of the plate

Storm Hierholzer, RHP, Lake Travis
FB up to 94 this spring, swing and miss breaking ball. Showed much improved command of the ball

Chase Hampton, RHP, Kilgore
Power arm, FB up to 95, Tough nosed competitor on the mound

Reid Taylor, RHP, Woden
Country strong 6-foot-4 frame, FB up to 95 with a swing and miss SL and command of both pitches

Two Way

Tanner Witt, RHP/INF, Episcopal
Imposing 6-foot-6 frame on the mound, FB up to 95 arm, true CB with high spin metrics, Also doubles as a versatile INF, with a power bat that has proven it against high end competition.

Masyn Wynn, MIF/RHP, Kingwood
twitchy athlete in the middle of the field that defends and can swing it in the box. On the mound can run the FB up to 98 paired with a true CB with depth and sharp action.

Cameron Caley, OF/LHP, The Woodlands
Smooth athlete in the field, short quick left handed stroke with feel for the barrel. On the mound, as he has matured the velocity has jumped to 90-91 with his already natural feel and ability to spin the breaking ball.

OF

Elijah Nunez, OF, Arlington Martin
Speedy left handed bat with feel for the barrel and create chaos on the bases. Can play all three OF spots at the next level

Jacob Schoenvogel, OF, Cy-Fair
Rangy 6-foot-2, athletic left handed hitting OF, Simple setup and approach in the box, with the ability to drive the ball to both gaps

INF

Ryan Targac, 1B, Halletsville
Natural 3B and can play 3B just fine but for this list we moved him to 1B. Physical/sturdy frame, quiet setup in the box and has the ability to hit and drive the ball to all fields

Cole Foster, SS, Plano
Natural gifted defender, plays with a swagger/ confidence about himself. Shows the ability to drive the ball out of the park from both sides of the plate.

Orlando Salinas, 3B, King
Athletic defender that has tremendous tools in the box as well. Moves well in the field, and has the ability to drive the ball to the gaps and over the fence in any AB.

Close calls to the Roster:
Josh Ekness, Brandon Beckel, Aaron Nixon, Levi Wells, Luke Boyers
