On Monday, Aug. 19, the PBR Wisconsin team is headed to Wildwood Baseball Park in Sheboygan, Wis., home of the Sheboygan A’s, to host the annual Eastern Wisconsin Open showcase. Nearly 60 prospects from the area are gearing up to participate in this pro-style workout in front of our staff.

There were several prospects who introduced themselves last year to our team at this very event, including RHP J.D. Schultz (Stevens Point, 2019) who earned an invite to Senior Games and committed to Wisconsin-Stevens Point not long after.

RHP Bryce Leedle (Markesan, 2021) launched himself onto the radar at this event and is a top-50-ranked player in the incoming junior class as a result. And then there’s Pius XI’s Reyshawn Sprewer (2020), an athletic outfielder with an all-around game. Both remain uncommitted.

This year, the crop is not only bigger, but it looks just as talented.

From Stevens Point, uncommitted 2020s RHP Jamie Praefke and LHP Kaleb Schulist are both making their way back to this event. The two stood out amidst a group of SPASH attendees, and it’ll be nice to get another look at a couple of the best from the area, considering our staff wasn’t able to catch the Panthers during the spring. Praefke offers a lanky 6-foot-5 frame with a clean and easy arm. Schulist is also listed at 6-foot-5 with two separate breaking balls, as well as a fastball that was up to 80 mph this time last year.

A couple players attending that we’ve already seen this summer: C Hunter Petska (Green Bay Preble, 2020) and C Nicholas LaVigne (Appleton West, 2021). Petska was one of, arguably the, top backstop in attendance at July’s Western Wisconsin Open showcase, and he’ll have the chance to prove it again in Sheboygan. As for LaVigne, he was one of the hottest hitters at the Badger State Battle and is an athletic defender behind the dish, too.

There’s going to be a lot to take in on Monday, and we’re excited to make the annual trip to Wildwood, to an area of the state we’re not able to visit enough. And registration is still open, so click the following link to sign up today: REGISTRATION.
