Prep Baseball Report

Evansville North RHP, Ryan Dills, Commits to Olney Central

PBR: Why did you choose Olney Central?

Dills: I chose Olney because I felt like it was the best fit for me. The coaches have a great knowledge of the game and they have a great history of moving players on to the next level. It's also nice that it is close to home and I already know a couple of guys on the team that I have competed against over the years.

PBR: Where did Olney first see you compete?

Dills: Olney Central first saw me compete in the fall in a scrimmage against them with the Evansville Razorbacks organization.

PBR: What other schools did you consider?

DIlls: Other schools also in the running included; Wabash Valley, University of Evansville, and Murray State.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?

DIlls: The coaches expect me to be an impact player the first year. They feel like I have the opportunity to compete for a weekend spot as long as I work hard.

PBR: You play for the Evansville Razorbacks during the summer, how did playing for them help you as a baseball player? What was your most memorable summer baseball moment?

Dills: The biggest thing that the Razorbacks have done for me is they gave me the opportunity to play with them. Coach Johnson essentially opened up and help me through the recruiting process. My most memorable moment from the summer came from this past year when we won the 18U Pastime Tournaments National Championship in Indianapolis on Victory Field.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Dills: The people who have had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player are my parents. They have always been there for me whether it has been taking me to baseball practice or paying for lessons.

PBR: Heading into your senior year at Evansville North what are your goals individually and as a team?

Dills: As a team, our goal is to advance as far as we can in the state tournament. We are looking to win 25 games and keep the great history of baseball at North alive. My goals individually are to bat over .400 with 40 stolen bases. On the mound, I'm looking to get 10 wins with an ERA under 1.00.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Dills: The biggest thing that I need to improve is my overall strength.

PBR: Have you decided on a major, or narrowed it down?

Dills: It's not set in stone, but I will try to take Accounting my first year.
