Fall Player Spotlights: Shane Songer

This Fall PBR Arkansas is highlighting a couple of the top uncommitted prospects from the 2023 class to a handful of talented 2025's. Today we take a look at the physical first baseman Shane Songer. The White Hall High School product is one of the more physical bats remaining uncommitted in the State with elite bat speed and quick hands through the zone. At 6-foot-1 and 195-pounds, Songer has shown exit velocities up to 98 mph and swings with strong leverage and extension. There is some power potential with the swing attributes and overall strength and should project to be a physical presence in a lineup at the next level.

(21.9 mph hand speed average). Started in a tall narrow stance with a compact rhythmic load, then used a controlled long stride. Has flashed above average bat speed, short rotational swing plane and high finish. He produced loud contact and found lots of barrels. Up the middle aggressive approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 79 mph; had rhythmic in control footwork, sure consistent hands, and a fluid natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Had a consistent compact arm action with a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.85 at the event.
