The Freshmen Free Showcase was held on Sunday, January 29 at the Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen, VA. The event was for primarily Freshmen with a few eighth graders and featured players from across the state. We began the evaluation process with our Stats Story and Rapid Reaction.

Today we break down video from the event with the position player analysis.

Top Performers

Trey Boll, OF, Collegiate, 2020
Boll is 6-3 with a projectable athletic frame. Hits from left side from a balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride, loading hands down and back. Ok hips and decent balance, longer path, collapsing a bit and working uphill through the ball with extension. Exit velocity was 89. Worked gap to gap with some power potential. In the outfield, average hands, working behind the ball well, clean exchange, throws from low three-quarters arm slot with a short, quick arm action, position velocity was 83. Showed some speed, home to first was 4.31.

Tillman Butler, C/3B Eastern View 2020
Butler is 5-10 with an athletic frame, hits from the right side from an athletic stance. Toe tap stride, loads back into a wrap, decent hips and average balance. Line drive swing, mostly level occasionally uphill, slight pull approach, exit velocity was 86. In the infield, average footwork and hands, clean exchange. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity of 74. Behind the plate, deep stance, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action. Pop times 2.15-2.34, catcher velocity was 74.

Wyatt Miles, SS, Woodgrove, 2020
Miles is 5-9 with an athletic frame, hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, good rhythm to swing, explosive hips and decent balance to swing. Quick to ball with good extension to it, mostly level swing, getting uphill occasionally. Showed good approach, working middle of the field, line drive gap to gap hitter with some bat speed, exit velocity was 79. In the infield, good footwork, fields with a wide base, soft hands. Clean exchange, plays through ball well, short arm action with a quick arm, low three-quarters slot, position velocity of 77.

Christian Martin, SS, Amherst Co. 2021
Martin is 5-7 with an athletic frame and hits from the left side from an open athletic stance. Short leg kick stride on line, no load, good hips and decent balance throughout swing. Short to ball with good extension through it, slightly uphill swing. Pull approach with some bat speed and power potential in the future, exit velocity of 76. At short, good footwork and above average hands, plays through ball well into a clean exchange. Short, quick arm action from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 74. Home to first was 4.58.

Ethan Dezarn, SS, Woodgrove 2020
Dezarn is 5-8 with a lanky frame, hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride, slight load back into wrap, drifts onto front side, decent hips. Short, level swing path, line drive swing, good approach using the middle of the field, exit velocity of 72. At short, clean footwork and soft hands, plays through ball, good rhythm. Short arm action from low three-quarters slot, position velocity of 71. Home to first time was 4.45.

Nick Famiglietti, 3B, Briar Woods, 2020
Famiglietti is 5-10 with a lanky frame. At the plate, hits from a balanced athletic stance, short leg kick stride with short load back and wrap. Ok hips and balance, occasional backside collapse. Short bat path, works uphill with a pull approach, exit velocity was 76 and he showed some batspeed. In infield, clean footwork, fields with wide base and above average hands. Clean transfer, throws from low three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action, position velocity of 71.

Jackson Foreman, SS, Brooke Point, 2020
Foreman is 5-7 with a lankier athletic frame. He hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance, short stab stride on line, loads back. Decent hips and balance throughout swing. Longer path, working uphill with extension through the ball, pull approach with exit velocity of 70. At short, average footwork and hands, gets into a decent base to field. Clean exchange, short arm action from low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 67.

Camden Mounts, LHP/OF, West Potomac, 2020
Mounts is 5-10 with a lanky frame and hits from left side in an athletic stance. Short stride open, slight load back, average balance throughout swing. Longer path, level swing, line drive hitter, exit velocity of 65. In the outfield, aggressive approach and average hands, plays through ball, clean exchange. Throws from low three-quarters slot with a position velocity of 72.

Peter Ogden, SS, Yorktown, 2020
Ogden is 5-10 with a lankier frame. Hits from the right side, slightly crouched athletic stance, toe tap stride on line with slight load back, good rhythm. Good hips and balance to swing, short to ball, level line drive swing, worked gap to gap, exit velocity was 73. At short, average footwork and hands, fields with wide base. Clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 69.

Mason Satterfield, OF/RHP, James Madison, 2020
Satterfield is 5-11 with a lanky frame and hits from the right side from a crouched loaded stance, short leg kick stride on line, loads back in rhythm into a slight wrap. Ok lower half and balance, level path with extension, line drive hitter that worked gap to gap with some bat speed and power potential, exit velocity was 79. In the outfield, average hands, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity of 72.

Quinn Stromberg, 2B, Broad Run, 2020
Stromberg is 5-5 with a strong lower half to an athletic frame, hits from the right side from a taller stance, short stride back with short load into a wrap. Ok hips and decent lower balance, short to ball and works uphill through it. Line drive hitter who worked gap to gap, exit velocity of 73. In the infield, fields with a decent base and average hands. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action, position velocity was 70.

Jacob Trumbo, C, West Potomac, 2020
Trumbo is 5-11 with an athletic frame and hits from right side with a slight crouch, short stride on line, short load back with slight wrap. Decent balance throughout swing, short to ball with a quick bat and good extension, exit velocity was 82. Behind the plate, showed some sway getting behind ball, gains ground on exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot. Pop times were 2.19-2.37, catcher velocity was 68.
