Shane Thomas C / OF / Richland Northeast, SC / 2021

Lean athletic build with sloped shoulders and projectable length throughout. 6.74 sixty time. 71 mph C velocity. 88 mph exit velocity. Slightly open stance with loose hands. Short stride lands to the toe and coils the barrel behind the head. Hands are set higher, just off the back of the head, and move down and back slightly during the load. Slightly lofted path through contact. Showed the ability to lag the barrel with moderate pop in the middle of the field. Developing drop and block ability behind the plate with good bend in the hips. Confident hands handled balls inside the shoulders, will need to improve on balls at the edges of the zone. Longer arm action and exchange are limiting pop times. Projects as a next level OF prospect. 

 

 

Reed Garris RHP / C / Wando, SC / 2021

Durable frame with strong lower half. Body will easily add increased strength with additional development. 7.71 sixty time. 75 mph C velocity. 1.99 best pop time. Balanced stance outside the shoulders with some bend in the knees. Medium high leg kick loads the hands back and turns the barrel into a vertical position. Lands slightly closed and works uphill through the zone to a high two handed finish. Gap to Gap power with slightly more juice to the pull side. Good catch and throw skills behind the plate. Receives the ball well in the pocket and controls pitches at the edges. Also pitches, controlled tempo with repeatable delivery. Has feel for multiple offerings. FB worked up to 83 and CB landed for strikes at 73-74 mph.  

 

 

 

Calder Garris C / RHP / Wando, SC / 2022

Broad stature and strong through the shoulders and chest. Minimal work needed to project at the next level. 7.72 sixty time. 74 mph C velocity. 2.09 best POP time. Taller stance with the feet at the shoulders. Short stride and little hand movement. Slightly uphill at contact with consistent line drives. Good power present, especially to the pullside. Strong upper body muscles the barrel through contact with a two handed finish.  Good bend in the hips for his build. Smooth hands and little pull when receiving. Developing lateral movement, should improve as he matures. Max effort delivery on the mound. Quick tempo, repeated well. H3Q to OTT release with ASR to the FB at 84. Mixed a 70 mph breaking ball with 10/4 shape and flashes of plus potential. 

 

 

 

Blake Palyok C / Airport High School, SC / 2022

Athletic catchers build at 6 foot 1, 185 lbs. Lean strength at present with room to fill out as he matures. 6.87 sixty time. 2.03-2.08 POP Range. 75 MPH catcher velocity.. 86 MPH exit velocity (tee). Open stance, narrow set up with a slight bend in the knees. Carries the hands low and off the back shoulder. Med. short stride timing mechanism and slight coil of the barrel. Wants to work up hill through contact with good barrel release. Good bend in the hips and confident hands behind the plate. Quick exchanges and a strong arm with a slight hitch at the top of a short arm action. Accurate throws to the right side of the bag with some fade. 

 

 

 

Gavin Phillips C / 3B / Andrew Jackson, SC / 2021

Prototypical catchers build with broad shoulders and stocky strength in the lower half. Near physical potential outside of admin some additional strength. 8.11 sixty time. 2.09-2.17 POP range. 69 mph catcher velocity. 84 mph exit velocity (tee). Taller stance, slightly open. Relaxed hand set just off the back shoulder. Short stride collects the weight on the back side and pushes the hands down and back. Positive attack angle, wants to work the middle of the field and stay behind the ball. Occasional gap to gap power. Good torque through the lower half to a one handed finish. Moves well behind the plate with loose hips and avg. lateral quickness. Quick exchange and shorter arm action. Throws showed moderate fade. Solid avg. defender. 

 

 

 

Justin Lehman C / RHP / Nation Ford, SC / 2021

LHH catcher with projectable build. Good length throughout with sloped shoulders and high waist. 7.19 sixty time. 1.9o5-2.02 POP range. 78 mph catcher velocity. 91 mph exit velocity (tee). Stance at the shoulders with the weight inside the feet. Knee to knee load. Short hand load with slight barrel turn. Steeper attack angle flattens out through contact. Showed the ability to lag the barrel at times and stay behind the baseball consistently. Inside/out tendencies with good juice to the opposite field gap. Occasional barrel release with some carry to the pullside. Low crouch behind the plate. Athletic set up and handles balls well at the edges of the zone with confident hands. Advanced block/recover shown in game. Quick arm action and strong arm produced accurate throws to the bag.
