Cabot HS 9 vs Lakeside HS 5

Cabot jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings to give themselves enough cushion to hold on to defeat Lakeside 9-5

2017 RHP Brett Brockington held Lakeside scoreless for the first three innings giving Cabot’s offense enough time to establish a 7-0 lead. Brockington kept Lakeside off balance mixing an 84-87 mph fastball with a solid curveball.

Offensively Cabot scored two in the 1^st 2016 OF Jake Slunder lead off the inning with a double and scored on an error. 2017 C Denver Mullins hit a single and later scored when Dylan Thomas drew a walk.

The Panthers had a big inning in the 3^rd when they scored 5 runs on two hits and 3 Lakeside errors. The big hit came from Mullins again who hit a double to the right-center gap.

Lakeside did not go away quietly competing at the plate and answering with 4 of their own in the fourth. They strung together 5 hits, highlighted by a 2 out 2 RBI double.

Pitching: 2017 Brett Brockington picked up the win pitching 3.2 innings scattering 5 hits, 2 earned runs while striking out 2. 2016 RHP Chase Kyzer looked sharp in his one inning of relief striking out 2.

2016 LHP Kyle Lightsey took the loss throwing 5.1 innings allowing 4 earned while striking out 6.

Cabot 1 vs Little Rock Christian 2 (10 Innings)

Little Rock Christian walked-off Cabot 2-1 in 10 innings in the final game of Day 1 of the Red Devil classic when Colten Fisher hit a single to centerfield to drive in the game winner.

It was a well-played game with both pitching staffs pounding the strike zone, and both teams playing sound defense behind them.

Offensively: Cabot received a solid day from 2016 OF Jake Slunder who was 1 for 3 with 2 walks and a run scored. Little Rock Christian received solid production from 2016 3B Brock Ferguson who was 1-4 with an RBI.

In a 2-1 game the big story was pitching and both sides received great contributions from all that pitched.

Cabot: 2018 RHP Dylan Billingsley pitched 5 innings allowing 1 earned run, scattering 4 hits while striking out 7, and took a no decision. He was replaced by 2019 LHP Zach Morris who pitched 1.2 innings with 3 strike outs. 2016 Michael Shepperd took the loss pitching 3 innings allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits with 3 strike outs.

Little Rock Christian: 2017 LHP Adam Smith pitched 5.1 innings giving up 0 earned runs while striking out 4 and allowing just 1 hit. 2018 RHP Bennet Shoptaw picked up the win pitching 4.2 innings allowing just two hits while striking out 8.
