NORTHBROOK, IL - The Glenbrook North Spartans (11-2) capitalized on a quality outing from senior right-hander Jack Garibaldi, and a big day at the plate from senior RF Chris Heywood, to defeat the No. 6 Trevians of New Trier (9-2) by a score of 6-2.  Heywood went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, including a solo home run over the left field fence in the fifth inning. Garibaldi picked up the win after pitching a complete game, surrendering two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking three.

The Spartans jumped on New Trier early for three runs in the first inning. After getting the leadoff man out, the next seven Glenbrook batters reached base, culminating in an RBI single by Jake Kieffer and a bases loaded two run single by Heywood. Heywood and Ben Boecke would each knock in another run with singles in the third inning as Glenbrook North extended their lead to 5-0 through three innings.

DH Duke Olges got New Trier on the board in the fifth inning with a long home run over the left field fence, bringing the score to 5-2. The Spartans would answer right back though. Chris Heywood launched a solo home run over the left field fence, setting our final score of 6-2.

Jake Kieffer picked up two hits in the game, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

New Trier was led offensively by Olges who finished 1-for-2 with a home run, one run scored, one walk, and two RBI. St. Louis commit C Cam Redding and LF Kyle Caponi also collected hits in the game.
