The Mills Godwin’s offense is hot and it did not cool down on Thursday night. The Eagles had three big offensive innings that would lead them to a 13-1 win over Douglas Freeman.

Godwin would put five on the board in the first, as the Eagles would take advantage of three walks and three Freeman errors. The senior Spencer Rife got the ball for the Eagles and would get one shutdown innings after another, limiting the Rebels to three hits in five innings.

The Eagles put up another crooked number in the third when they scored four. This time it would not be Rebel miscues, but the Godwin bats. Noah Cornwell led it off with a double down the right field line and would be followed up by a Bo Richmond RBI line drive back up the middle. Senior Mark Buisson would then double to deep left field, scoring Richmond and making it 7-0 Godwin. The next two hitters would get the runners in via sacrifice fly and it was 9-0 in the middle of the third.

Godwin threw up another four spot in the fourth with a combination of walks and singles. This would make it 13-0 Eagles.

In the bottom of the fourth Freeman would take advantage of a Liam Simpson single and a Suresh double, putting two runners in scoring position for the Rebels. Alec Erickson would get the runner from third home with a groundball to short and that would make it 13-1.

Rife would finish this one out in the fifth, retiring the Rebels in order and ending this one with a final score of 13-1 in favor of the #7 Mills Godwin Eagles.

Rife threw all five innings, allowed three hits, and struck out three.

Cornwell was one-for-one with a double and three RBI.

Buisson was two-for-three with two RBI and two runs scored.

For Freeman Macho Santiago and Ashwin Suresh both had a double a piece.
