Welcome to the Arizona Daily Roundup. 

Baseball season is finally here. As of Friday, March 12th, the AIA high school baseball season is officially off and running. Throughout the spring, PBR will be posting Daily Roundup with some scores and select performances from past games.

Catalina Foothills edges Cienega

No. 23 Cienega suffers its 2nd loss of the season after an early lead against a tough Catalina Foothills squad. 2021 1B Paul Cruz led the offense with two hits for the bobcats, getting the scoring started with an RBI double while scoring a run himself. Sophomores, Anthony Diaz & Troy Sanders led the offense for Catalina Foothills, both logging multi-hit games. Sanders hit leadoff for the Falcons, going 2 for 3 with with an RBI & 2 runs scored. Diaz hit clean-up, providing some power with two doubles on the day, batting 2 runs in. Catalina Foothills turned on the offense in the 2nd part oft he game, ended up winning by a score of 6-5 in the end. 

OTHER PERFORMANCES:

2023 RHP Noah Scilley (Gilbert Classical)- pitches a gem in its opener vs Heritage Academy, earning the complete game shutout while only getting 1-run of offense. Scilley struck out 14 batters on the day while only surrending 1 walk & 2 hits. Sam O'Neal scored the only run of the game while going 3 for 4 at the plate. 

2021 RHP Levi Graham (Mesa CC recruit) started on the hill for Valley Christian, going 4 innings in the 11-3 win vs Horizon Honors. Graham blanked Horizon Honors for 4 innings, striking out 7 batters while not allowing a single hit with a single walk.

2022 1B Ben Watson (New Mexico commit) went 4 for 4 in Highlands 5-2 win vs Williams Field, hitting leadoff for the Hawks. He scored two runs and drove in one.  2023 LHP Bradyn Barnes (Arizona State commit) started on the mound, throwing 4 shutout innings.
