On a windswept afternoon in Franklin County, a resilient Hidden Valley Titans team defeated the Franklin Co. Eagles, 9-5. Coach Bradley Mattox’s Titans are 2-0 early in the season despite losing his top three arms to graduation last year.
The Titans got right to work in the first sending eleven players to the plate and the Titans built a five-run advantage capped by Matthew Bolinger's two-RBI single. Franklin County would strike back in the third inning to cut the lead to 5-2.
In the home fifth, the Eagles put a three spot on the board thanks to Noah Basham’s RBI single and
Austin Kirkbride’s two run RBI’s. This seesaw rumble was now a 5-5 game.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Titans took charge highlighted by a Jake Freeland triple to right center. Hidden Valley would put three runn across that inning and added another run in the seventh to take their 9-5 lead. They blanked Franklin County in the sixth and seventh to hold on to the victory.
