Hoosier Holiday Showcase: Outfield Analysis

On Sunday, December 6th, we hosted the annual Hoosier Holiday Showcase at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. Today, we analyze the outfielders that attended the event.

In Alphabetical Order

Garrett Burhenn, OF, Lawrence North HS, 2018: 6-foot-1, 155 pounder ran a 7.33-60.  Long, lean frame.  Short, ¾ arm action from the field with average strength at 82 mph.  Possesses average hands and actions.  Offensively, hits from a balanced/crouch type setup and uses a leg kick.  Average use of his lower half.  Average bat speed, slightly uphill path.  Choppy rhythm.  Recorded a high exit velocity of 79 mph.  

Justin Miller, OF, Homestead HS, 2018: 5-foot-10, 165 pound outfielder ran a 7.05-60.  Possesses soft hands defensively with fluid feet and a clean exchange.  Plays through the baseball with athleticism.  Quick arm from a long, high ¾ action at 84 mph with carry.  Offensively, hits from a balanced setup.  Smooth load, long stride.  Good balance.  Average bat speed, level path.  Has some stiffness in his rhythm.  Recorded a high exit velocity of 76 mph.  

Brandon Reid, OF, Brownsburg HS, 2017: 5-foot-9, 175 pound outfielder ran a 7.59-60.  Showcased a strong, accurate arm from in the field at 86 mph from a long, high ¾ arm action with carry.  Possesses sure hands with fluid feet and a clean exchange.  Projects more as a corner OF. 

Max Wills, OF, Lawrence North HS, 2017: 6-feet, 180 pounds, ran a 7.29-60.  Showcased a short, high ¾ arm action in the field with accuracy at 79 mph.  Possesses twitch feet with average hands.  Offensively, hits from a crouch type setup, no load.  Minimal stride, average use of his lower half.  Shows good balance in the swing with quick hands.  Short path to the baseball, line drive type hitter.  Recorded a high exit velocity of 83 mph.  

Malik Wirges, OF, Homestead HS, 2018: 5-foot-10, 170 pounder ran a 7.20-60 and was 81 from the OF from a short, high ¾ arm action.  Mechanically sound defensive actions.  At the plate hits from an open/crouch setup, loads back.  Stride is short with average use of his lower half.  Good balance in the swing.  Above average bat speed with an overall good approach at the plate.  Short/compact path, fluid rhythm.  Gap-to-gap type hitter.  Recorded a high exit velocity of 82 mph.
